FootJoy Pro SL Sport Shoe Review.

The new Pro SL Sport has just been released and it has kind of gone under the radar!

As always I have done a video on my YouTube page. Check it out below.

Thoughts on it are below... Basically, I love it! Pick up a pair here

The FootJoy Pro SL is just massive, the biggest selling shoe in the FootJoy range. It only makes sense for them to try and expand the range and here we have the sport! This shoe is all about breathability and is priced the same as the regular Pro SL.

From a distance, this looks very similar to the regular Pro SL. Before I talk about what is different it is important to know what regular Pro SL features it has. You may have heard this before from my other videos so apologies if I am repeating myself!

The midsole is exactly like a regular Pro SL, we have the FTF (fine-tune foam) which integrates into the outsole. This foam is lightweight but quite firm to give optimal stability. Just above the FTF, we have the Strato Foam, this foam is super squishy to give optimal comfort. This gives the best of both worlds, comfort with the Strato and stability with the FTF.

As we move onto the outsole you will recognise the infinity shape, this offers fantastic grip with the dimples throughout. You will see the tapered ones but also the ones that are slightly hollow to give grip. As mentioned you have the FTF foam along with the Strato foam in key areas to give you the comfort. So far this is all the same as the regular Pro SL.

The upper of this shoe is where it all changes, with the regular Pro SL we have leather with this we have mesh. Obviously, the mesh is not waterproof but very breathable keeping your feet cool and not sweaty! So how are they going to make this shoe waterproof?

This is where the Intelli Shield comes in, we have an ultrathin TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) hotmelt top layer. This is basically a mix of rubber and plastic that is very sturdy and also flexible. With it being a very thin layer it does not compromise the breathability of the shoe. It does however give it a membrane and this is where the waterproof guarantee comes from.

Looks-wise we have the same features as the regular Pro SL – the power harness to wrap the shoe around your foot. Subtle FJ branding on the side and as always the name of the shoe on the back. Inside we have the usual cushioned section like the Pro SL carbon.

For me, this shoe really appeals to me, for someone that spends a lot of time in a pair of shoes, breathability is so key. You all know I am a massive Pro SL fan and this shoe is talking my language. I could however see why your more traditional golfer would prefer the regular Pro SL with the leather.

Fit wise I am a UK 10 in trainers and this shoe fits me true to size. Unlike the regular Pro SL whereby I go half a size smaller.

Breathable, waterproof and true to the Pro SL roots, this shoe is a yes from me!
