CMGC receiving some great feedback

Hello once again from CMGC, well winter is well and truly here with some rain, strong winds and colder temperatures all hitting us over the last week or so. Golf buggies are very much weather dependent at the moment so please call ahead to see if they are on.

Having said that we have had some great feedback from both members and visitors. The message below was received this week:

"Hi Dave,

Many thanks for your e mail - it was my first visit to Cleobury and I enjoyed it immensely - I thought the course and greens in particular were in great shape and wonderful hospitality.

We play a lot of golf in Shropshire and look forward to returning soon."

The course has held up great as this picture of the 8th of Foxes Run shows.

Obviously the tragic events that happened in Paris make you realise how lucky we are here in the county. To anyone that has been affected please remember you are in our thoughts.

I would also like to thank everyone for their kind words on my announcement to turn pro last week…. I will keep you posted on my progress.

Club news

On the back of that the Christmas Open I talked about last week… we now only have one tee time left (9.36) if you want this time please call us ASAP to avoid missing out. As it is a two tee start no additional tee times will be allocated.

Another Brilliant Donation to a worthy charity by Our Club Captain and Wife's Foundation! Jon and Ange Gaskell continually give up their time to raise money for numerous charities, with fundraisers throughout the year.

Their final fundraiser of the year has just passed and the money raised has been donated to Acorns Children's Hospice. It is a great cause helping local children and families.

Gemma from Acorns had this to say: "I'd just like to say a huge thank you to Jon and Ange, this donation came totally out of the blue and it will make such a difference which is just fantastic."

Pros news

Well CMGC I am back, I will be up and around the club playing, practicing and socialising.

I have also updated my lesson diary, if anyone would like to book lessons please do so direct with me or via the golf centre.

Competition news

Saturday Stableford and Winter Order of Merit - It isn't winter golf without a bit of Wind and Rain!

It may have been a non qualifier but there was still serious WINTER ORDER OF MERIT points to be won! And our members didn't let us down as some great scores were posted.

Rob Winnall took an early lead in the club house scoring an impressive 41points. Hitting fairways all day long, you could say it was a solid round for him.

On the back of some great win's recently, in both team and individual format Ash Cook also shot 41 points, however even with this score only third place was good enough, missing out on countback.

However they were both out done by John Westley, who also secured a steady 41 points just nipping them on count back. John is one of our most consistent players always shooting near or around his handicap and that's exactly what he did.

Amy Millward Assistant Professional had this to say: "it's great to see our member shooting some fantastic scores through the winter months, if this continues we should see some handicaps dropping and a great display of golf being played over the summer period".

Final Standings:

1st - John Westley - 41points (Count back)
2nd - Rob Winnall - 41points (Count back)
3rd - Ash Cook - 41 points (Count back)

Ladies Yellowball

In this week's ladies competition, the yellow balls were brought out of there hiding places and were at centre stage with double points resting on each time it was in use! It was the team of Julie Currie, Ann Breakwell and Christine Perry that capitalized on the yellow ball scoring a great 87 points.

Julie had this to say "We definitely took advantage of the yellow ball scoring a lot of 6 pointers on the back 9 which helped boosted our score and helped us win!."
