Pinner Platter Final
On Sunday 25th October the Pinner Platter Final took place where all the couples who have played throughout the summer on a Thursday Night are invited to play in a Texas Scramble competition. Prior to the competition a blind draw took place to determine the teams. Ten couples participated with everyone enjoying themselves. The team with the best score on Deer Park was: Sara Pain, John Swithenby, Ann Breakwell and Mel Breakwell.
Sara had this to say: "We all did our bit with everyone in the team contributing when we needed to. It was great fun as always in these Pinner Platter events and we look forward to playing in more of these competitions in the Mixed Winter League".
The Pinner Platter Final was followed by a 3 course meal served by George and his team and the presentation of the Texas Scramble results and The overall Pinner Platter Winners.
The Pinner Platter Trophy was a closely fought contest; Last year's winners Lynne and Rob Pinner shared second place with Heather and Ian Pringle with the title this year going to Sharon and Paul Liggins who played some great golf over the summer helping them secure the trophy.
Stableford Results
Winter has well and truly arrived at Cleobury Mortimer! With the clocks changing, cold mornings and winter rules now in play it was anyone's competition. John Westley has adapted to the winter conditions straight away with a steady 36 points. Ash Cook fresh off the back of a 3 under win in the night golf that took place on the Friday shot 37 points which was enough to take third place.
First and second place however was contested between two great friends in Adam Cook and Lewis Hodges. It was nip and tuck the whole round and after 18 holes they could not be separated and both finished with 38 points. However a superior back count gave Adam the win.
Adam had this to say.
"Since I had a lesson with professional Sam my iron striking is 100% better which is allowing me to hit greens in regulation more consistently, which is helping my overall scoring".
Director of golf Dave Pain also added
"Adam, Lewis and Ash have all been there or there about in competitions over the last few months. These consistent scores in the winter competitions would suggest they are the players to watch over the coming months".
1st - Adam Cook - 38 points 2nd - Lewis Hodges - 38 points 3rd - Ash Cook 37 points
Night Golf
Big thanks to the 52 players who came up and supported Night Golf. 12 holes were played with some great golf on show. Captain John Gaskell, Dave Harrison and the team did a superb job organising the event.
Well done to Ash Cook, Lewis Hodges, Matt Fairman, Ad Cook, June Bryden, Dave Moore and Dave Siddons who all picked up prizes. The next one will be in March, everyone who attended seemed to really enjoy the whole experience and it was great to see a cross section of all memberships getting involved.

To tempt you even more the picture below shows what we are all about.
Last week it was a new path, this week it is green drainage. The greenkeepers of CMGC have once again been working hard on improving two of our greens. For those who don't know there are two greens that often catch the water due to low spots. After careful consideration we think we may have a solution. The front of the fourth on Deer Park has already been done, but pictured here is the first on badgers.
The drainage piping with a teram coating on it offers optimum drainage with the teram cover helping stop any gravel or soil blocking the drain. We hope this will allow the water to travel through at a faster rate and not hold on the green. We are always striving for improvements at CMGC and little things like this will help.
The turf cutter is used to get the exact trench area. John, then on the tractor uses the drain cutter to go down to the a depth of 14 inches.
The drainage is then inserted.
Notice the trench onto the green is dug at an angle to encourage the water flow.
Gravel is then added to the top which will help drain the water. Top dressing is then added so it can grow back quicker. The trench is then complete once the turf is reapplied.
