Hello once again from CMGC! 

Another week has flown by as the summer season slowly draws to a close. The venue has (as normal) been very busy with golfers enjoying the course and the overall atmosphere. A big shout out to all the staff at the club for their continued hard work and their welcoming attitude that makes CMGC so unique. 

In the golf centre we have added some new signage to highlight some of the different services we offer. The one that you see as you leave for the course is however the most important one! Take note of it as it is very true!

A quick note to members who were asking for the combined scores from the club championships. These can be found on the notice board in the changing rooms. Also from Monday 21st September the essential course maintenance is due to start. This will mean 9 holes will be closed at various points midweek. Please phone in advance to book tee times to avoid waiting.

Stuburt Model Shoot 

After the success of the autumn/ winter photos which were taken at Cleobury for Stuburt, we were fortunate enough to be asked again. This time it was for their spring/ summer 2016 clothing and myself (Dave), Tom and Amy were all on hand to model. The winter wear sales have gone through the roof which I like to think has something to do with us being in the brochure!  

   

   

Once again the products for 2016 have been stepped up. They offer a high quality apparel range at a great price. The range includes: shoes, performance trousers and a wider range of shirts and jumpers.

Paul Elton photography was once again on hand to shoot the photos and did a great job. We are very proud to be the UK's only brand ambassadors for Stuburt and thank everyone at Stuburt for their continued support in CMGC.

Amy Signs Contract 

A big well done to Amy Millward who has officially signed her PGA contract and starts October 1st. Amy will be initially focusing on junior and ladies coaching before progressing onto all abilities. 

Amy is a very friendly and hard working youngster and she is sure to progress onto great things. We wish her all the best.

Cost Price Sale this Saturday! 

The famous CMGC Cost Price Sale returns on Saturday 19th September 2015. Anyone that was here for last years Sale will know all of our summer stock will be on sale at cost price. This is our only end of season sale and it is for just ONE day only. 

It starts at 8.30am and will run all day until 6:00pm. We will be moving all the stock from the golf centre into the match room. 

It also falls on the John Lacey Memorial Texas Scramble which already has over 100 people playing, so its set to be a big day.

John Lacey Texas Scramble Open 

This Saturday the John Lacey Texas Scramble Open  takes places and it is open to everyone! 

- 1/10 combined handicap, minimum of four drives per person. 
- £15 per person to visitors and £10 to CMGC members. 
- In 2014 35 teams entered so please be quick to get your desired tee time. 
- Some fantastic prizes are up for grabs and of course the cut glass trophy.

Men's Captains Classic

Another week goes by and another trophy competition for the members to contest here at CMGC. Last week's event was the Captains Classic a pair's betterball score played off a three quarter handicap. 

The stakes were also raised by the club Captain John Gaskell who hand-picked professional Amy Millward and nett club champion Phil Lau to represent him. Any pairs that beat the captain's team would win a bottle of wine each. 

Amy and Phil had some bad luck on the front nine and turned onto the back nine with 17 points. However they rallied on the back nine to finish with a respectable 36 points. 

Andy Young and Rob Pinner shot 44 points to finish second, which was made even more agonising with a putt just staying out on the last which would have won them the trophy on countback. 

The day however belonged to Dave Balmer and Simon Eades who shot an incredible 45 points. Dave held the team together early doors with Simon having a dose of the dreaded shanks! However after the first five holes he dropped just three shots!

Club Professional Sam Pain had this to say on their win... 

"Both Simon and Dave are very dangerous off their handicaps but sometimes struggle for consistency. I am not surprised to see this score by them, they clearly have the ability and form a great partnership."

Final standings 

1st - Simon Eades and Dave Balmer - 45 points 
2nd - Andy Young and Rob Pinner - 44 points 
Nearest the pins - Steve Lau and Ian Gough.

   

 

Cook Required 

Do any friends or members of CMGC have any friends or family interested in joining the catering team of George, Sally and Tracey at Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club? 

Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club is looking to recruit a cook to join our small team providing all types of catering requirements. Would suit an ambitious cook looking to progress in the kitchen. 

Must be flexible as hours are varied depending upon weekly events and be prepared to work at weekends. Responsibilities will include cooking good quality snacks and meals in a fast paced environment. 

The role will also include stock control, kitchen hygiene and ensuring all food produced is of a consistent high standard.

Night Golf - Friday 23rd October 

Following on from the huge success of the last night golf on captain's weekend night golf returns! 

The tee off time should be around 7pm but a little difficult to predict at the moment. The sign up sheet is in the golf centre. 

It will be a Texas Scramble played over nine holes. 

Note - there will also be an additional £5 deposit for the head lamps etc which is refunded at the end.

   

Halloween Party 

This has been organised by the club captain and his wife. It would be great to see everyone dressed up. A DJ has been booked, George is also putting some food on. Hope to see you all there for it.

   

Christmas Party

The legendary CMGC Christmas Party returns! One of the biggest and best nights of the year at just £22.50 it offers outstanding value with the 3 course meal and entertainment all included. Limited to 80 people, members are welcome to bring friends and staff. NOT TO BE MISSED.
