Hello once again from CMGC! 

I cannot believe another month has passed by, August is here and the school holidays are in full swing. We still have some big trophies up for grabs including Presidents Day on Saturday 8th August which is open to all sections of the club. It has been business as usual at the club with golfers enjoying the course and the green staff having a nice blend of wet and warm conditions to keep the grass growing and green. 

Mid season is the ideal time to be putting the practice in and gain results. Team CMGC have been out hitting balls and sharpening up their short games… You should be doing the same!

The invitation this Saturday is filling up, this Texas Scramble format is open to members and their guests if you would like to join the 13 teams that are already down please contact the golf centre on 01299 271 112.

CMGC Golfer County Champion 

A huge well done to Cleobury's Jack Severn who on Monday did us all proud in the County Championships at Halesowen Golf Club. Jack is the 2015 Junior County under 16 Gross aged group champion, with rounds of 79 & 71. An excellent 2nd round moved Jack up the leaderboard. Jack finished a creditable 6th in the combined U18 & U16 Boys Championship & qualifies for the county Boys Matchplay championship later in the year. He gives credit to the 2 iron hybrid fitted by Sam the day before which he used to great affect, plus a great driving tip Sam gave him. 

Jack joins some great talent that has come through the ranks at Cleobury in recent years and is punching well above his weight considering he is still only 14. A huge future in the game awaits.

Pro-Am Dates 

Team CMGC were once again out in force for the latest round of Worcestershire Pro-Ams. This time we ventured out to Kidderminster with three teams which is once again a fantastic effort from the club. The Worcestershire Pro-Ams have now become some of the most professional in the Midlands with: tee announcements, sponsorship, goody bags, food and great prizes. The final two of the season are 

September 2nd - Moseley Golf Club 
October 15th - Fulford Heath 

Once again we will be fielding three teams or four if demand is met. Anyone that would like to play please contact us here - entry fees are normally £45.

PING Fitting Day 

Due to demand we have extended the PING Fitting Day on Wednesday 5th August.  We have the following times available: 

2.30pm 
3.15pm 
8.30pm 

The full selection of  PING equipment will be on show and full fitting given using TrackMan. If you would like to take one of the slots aboveplease email us here with what you would like to be fitted for.



After heavy rain the day before the greens staff and golf centre team made the decision to change the competition from a Medal to Stableford which was to the delight of many! Conditions on the Saturday were near perfect for golf with sunshine, cloud and a light wind. 

Louie Edwards continued his rehabilitation from a dislocated shoulder to shoot 38 points which was enough to secure him third place. 

The day however belonged to the father and son combo of Luke and Graham Brittain. Graham shot a very impressive 40 points but he was outdone by his son Luke who shot an incredible 45 points! 

Resident professional Sam Pain had this to say on the competition results. 

"Firstly it is great to see Louie back playing well after a series of unfortunate injuries. Graham and Luke have really embraced membership at CMGC playing in the competitions on a regular basis. I have seen them both out playing and they have great swings. On current form these two are the ones to watch for the next Cleobury major - Presidents Day".

1st Luke Brittain - 45 points 
2nd - Graham Brittain - 40 points 
3rd - Louie Edwards - 38 points



Junior Academies 

Do you have children and not sure what to do with them over the summer holidays? Well why not join the Mini McIlroy's for the junior summer camps here at CMGC. 

Professional Sam Pain and his assistant Amy Millward are running three days at £25 per day. All aspects of the game are covered on each day with lunch and prizes also provided.
