Hello once again from CMGC!
What a week it has been with everyone in shorts and t-shirts enjoying the sun. The course has certainly played its part with many great comments on the condition. The next delivery of bunker sand (30 tonnes) has also arrived and that will be added to Foxes Run and Deer Park over the next week.
It is also great to report that the club's Captain Rainbow Cancer Charity Day on Friday has officially sold out! I have seen some of the prizes up for grabs and it is one of the best around. It is all set for a great day.
Pro's Day is fast approaching on Saturday July 18th 2015. This Texas AM event is open for members to bring visitors as a thank you from everyone in the golf centre for their support. We have some great prizes up for grabs and I urge everyone to get involved. It is set to be one of the stand out events in the golfing calendar. It is also sponsored by Titleist who are helping put on a great prize table.
Please call us on 01299 271 112 or visit the golf centre to sign in.

Always striving for quality at CMGC
As Cleobury regulars will know we are always investing in improving the quality of our playing surfaces and having had a freak accident when hydraulic oil leaked onto a couple of greens on Foxes we have been researching replacement Greens mowers.
Yesterday we took delivery of two John Deere E 2500 E-Cut Hybrid model mowers that virtually eliminate the possibility of hydraulic leaks. In addition, they reduce fuel usage and sound levels, without compromising cut quality. Plus, the 2500E E-Cut Hybrid's alternator stays at a constant power level, delivering the same quality of cut on the first green as it does on the last.
The greens are looking and playing great at the moment and we are sure this investment will show yet more improvement. This fits well with our environmentally friendly approach to course management while providing our golfers with some of the best greens in the area.
Men's Double Roll Up Stableford
The Cleobury weekend roll up Stableford was once again well supported by the members despite some thundery showers at times. First out and leading the way was Colin Hopewell who made the most of the better conditions to shoot 37 points. Terry Clark shot 39 points on the Sunday but after entering his score he was just pipped to top spot on count back. That belonged to Martin Cleaver who also had 39 points but a superior back count gave him the win and his first of the season.
Martin had this to say 'it was a very strange round today, off the tee I was very poor but chipped and putted from everywhere, I am delighted to get the win and see my handicap cut'.
Final Standings
1st - Martin Cleaver - 39 points (CB)
2nd - Terry Clark - 39 points
3rd - Colin Hopewell - 37 points
Nearest the pin Saturday - Ross Moorecroft
Handicap Team Update
The CMGC handicap team led by Captain Guy Taylor got an important home win against Ombersley on Saturday to get their season back on track. The win puts them second in the league with just 3 games remaining. We wish the team all the best and hope they can get out of the group and into the semi finals.
Pro-Am News
CMGC was back in action on the Pro-Am circuit this week playing at both Upper Sapey and Stourbridge. The support from the members has once again been fantastic with CMGC fielding 3 teams at Stourbridge which was the most from any one club. The first Pro-Am at The Worcestershire Pro-Am was won with a score of 10 under, at Cleobury 8 under won so when a CMGC team came in with 13 under we thought a victory could be in our grasp.
The format was best two score on each hole medal. Sadly some crazy scores came in 18, 17, 16 and 15 under completed the top 4 so we finished fifth. The next event is at Kidderminster on Thursday 23rd July .
Player of the Month
The winner of the player of the month award for June is… Jack Severn.
Jack just pipped Andy Johnson to the award. Jack has had a great month at county level having played for the under 14's where he is captain but also the under 16's and 18's!
Playing for the under 18's made him one of the youngest to represent the county at that level this year. A great effort Jack, well done.
The Open Sweep
Although Rory has had to now pull out our Open sweep is in full flow. The entries have been taken off the official Open website of all confirmed participants. Over 60 have already been sold, anyone on twitter will know who the secret tour pro is and he is in there!
Following on from the success of the US Open sweep FootJoy once again contacted us and wanted to offer exclusive rights on the prizes. Once again the summer tour package will be for the winner, prizes will go down to 4th place and also the person who finishes dead last before the cut.
