Greetings from Cleobury Golf
Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club - Director of Golf

Hello once again from the one and only CMGC,

The combination of rain and sunshine has done wonders for the greens this week making them more exceptional than normal they are: holding, rolling fast and most importantly consistent. We would like to offer a big welcome to Matt, Ashley, Luke and Adam who have all joined the club this week and already settling into club life and playing in competitions.

Trivia Time

Last week our guess the hole competition proved to difficult with no one getting it right! It was infact our signature hole the 6th of Badgers

So this week we have a roll over. Guess the hole below.. contact me by clicking here

You will win the glove from last week and a sleeve of Srixon golf balls. Best of luck to everyone.

US Open Predictions

The US Open is just around the corner and like every major we always want to top up your income. Here are our predictions…. Remember to use a bookmaker that offers top 6 on the each way placings!

Rob

Winner: Justin Rose - Swinging great at moment just needs putter hot.

Each way: Francesco Molinari - Straightest hitter on tour, U.S. Rough will be thick so a premium on hitting fairways.

Tom

Winner: Rickie Fowler- After putting on a great show at The Players in May, Rickie knows he has what it takes to hold it together down the stretch and clinch a major. As one of our picks in the golf centre specials, Rickie Fowler could well be giving some extra joy to anyone who purchased a Motocaddy on this offer.

Each Way: Hunter Mahan- eight top-10 major finishes including his 9th place finish in this years Masters shows he can compete at the highest level. In the 2013 US Open he was just one shot off the lead heading in to the final day so could be worth an each way bet.

Dave

Winner - Adam Scott - he has had a very quiet year so far but bringing back Steve Williams as caddy for the majors could be a master stroke, he wont be far away.

Each way - Martin Kaymer - the defending champion is 34-1, he isnt going to let the title out of his grasp without a fight!

Sam

Winner: Rory Mcilroy- number 1 player for a reason and he will prove that by winning at a canter.

Each way - Francesco Molinari - showed great form at Wentworth and at Jack's tournament (Memorial), rarely in trouble with his long game.

Matt

Winner: Bill Haas - Has won some big tournements in the past and with the course been so tough he might just have the game to win, he knows how to handle those kind of situations.

Each way - Ryan Palmer - A steady American, it is so tough to pick but he will be having a couple of quid off me.

Amy

Winner - Tiger Woods - I still believe he will one day win again, and this week could be it!

Each Way - Ian Poulter - has all the attributes to win a major, if his short game is hot he will be in the mix.

Night Golf - This Friday (19th June)

The night golf is fast approaching! We so far have confirmation of 40 people playing so it should be a great event. It is just £15 to play and that includes the head lamp, glow ball, glow sticks etc. Additional glow sticks will also be for sale…. Remember this event is for charity so all profits will be heading to Cancer Research UK and Midlands Air Ambulance

A big thanks to Ian Orme, Harvey Dodd and Dave Harrison for organising the event it is sure to be a lot of fun. Please the golf centre know if you would like to play or call us on 01299 271 112

Finally best of luck to the 3 lads who are taking on the 24 hours of golf challenge. Starting a 9am on Friday morning they will be playing right through, a massive effort.

9.45pm the night golf starts, but if everyone could get here for 9.30pm latest that would be great.

Captains Weekend

Don't forget Captains Weekend is this weekend! A CMGC Major is up for grabs in the form of the Captains Cup Saturday. It is already looking like a packed field of players so please don't delay in booking tee times.

The Sunday morning shot gun start (8.30am) is also open to all members with a FREE buffet lunch after. This is a fun betterball event..

Please click here see the the events taking place over Captains Weekend.

Please show support for your Captain Mr Jon Gaskell by playing.

Emily Hole in One

Big congratulations to Emily Price who aced the 2nd of Foxes Run in last week's ladies medal. The 164 yard par 3 is one of the toughest on the course! As Emily was in a competition she is eligible to claim her Hugo Boss watch. This is open to all members who play in qualifying competitions, if your getting a hole in one, make sure it is in a competition!!

Pictured is Emily and her playing partner ladies captain Julie Currie.

Bunkers

The greenkeepers have been cracking on with the bunker regeneration program, although the weather has slowed progress this past week. The time consuming part is removing stones and clumps of hardened sand from the existing bunkers there is obviously no point in just putting fresh sand on top as the debris will just rise to the surface once again. 30 tonnes (at £34 + VAT) has so far touched down at CMGC with a further 30 tonnes due next week. By the end we hope that every bunker will be complete.

Please click here to watch a video of the sand going in.

Click here to watch a video of Sam testing the depth and hitting a shot.
