Hello once again from the one and only CMGC!
Another week flies by as we head into the season with some big competition titles up for grabs with everyone striving to improve. The weather has so far been fantastic and the course has also stood up really well. The irrigation is now on for 10 hours straight keep the course green and promoting healthy growth. As the picture of the 5th of Badgers Sett shows there is great definition on the course at the moment.
If you would like to play the course we have a Betterball Open this Saturday. Tee times are still available. £30 per team of visitors including prizes and coffee and cake after nine holes! If you are members of CMGC you get discount on the entry.
We have loads going on this week so make sure you don't skip through anything, sit back relax and enjoy.

Maya Johnson - Apprentice to Manager
CMGC has always been committed to staff training and apprentices. The latest success is Maya.
Maya is currently doing her NVQ level 2 in hospitality and catering, which she has been working on for the past year. She is 90% through her course with just 2 exams left. Before her NVQ finishes, Maya aims to train up other members of staff. Maya has luckily secured another year of funding and is in the process of deciding what her next step is; whether this is doing another apprenticeship or moving onwards and upwards and working towards her NVQ level 3 in hospitality and catering. Maya hopes, long term, to become a chef or a manager, with both options possible for her.
All the best Maya!
Money Back for the US Open!
Who are the three biggest names in golf at the moment? It only took us about 30 seconds as a team to agree it is Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler. With that in mind we are feeling very generous and offering some crazy money back deals on shop goods.
Spieth to Bag US Open Victory?
Buy any PING, Titleist, Cleveland or Motocaddy golf bag from CMGC and if Jordan Speith wins the US Open we will give you your money back.
Rickie to Motor His Way to Victory?
Buy any Motocaddy trolley with an 18 or 36 hole battery and if Rickie Fowler wins the US Open we will give you your money back.
Rory Looking Good For US Open Win?
Buy any piece of FootJoy clothing from the golf centre and if Rory Mcilroy wins the US Open we will give you your money back.
* Money back is in the form of a voucher to be spent in the CMGC golf centre. Offer on purchases from 6/6/15 - 17/6/15.*
You may have already noticed the posters in and around the club for this… so far 4 bags and 10 pieces of clothing have been purchased on this…… Who is going to be the gambler and go for the first Motocaddy on Rickie?
Help For Heroes Stableford
The members of CMGC were out in force to support our troops in the Help For Heroes Stableford. Conditions on the day were tough, although it was nice and sunny the wind was swirling making it a challenge. Young Jack Severn now playing off a handicap of 5 continued his fine form with 37 points which was enough to secure him third place.
Dave Brownhill playing in his second competition as a member of CMGC got to grips with the conditions and also shot 37 points. With a superior back nine this was enough to send him into second place.
At the top of the leader board was once again last weeks winner Andy Johnson who secured back to back competition wins.
Andy shot a very impressive 39 points to take top spot. Andy is clearly on a purple patch at the moment and the practice he is doing is clearly paying off. PGA coach Rob Grier had this to say…
'It is very impressive from Andy securing back to back competition wins in the summer, not many players do this. Andy is playing to his strengths by finding fairways and keeping the ball in play at all times, could he be the first player in CMGC history to secure three in a row? I certainly wouldn't bet against it'.
Final standings
1st - Andy Johnson - 39 points
2nd - Dave Brownhill - 37 points (CB)
3rd - Jack Severn - 37 points

'We are all very proud of Emily and her fantastic performances at the club and on the international scene, she was the stand out candidate for May and the committee all unanimously agreed'.
