Hello from the one and only CMGC.
The dust has now settled from what was the busiest week of the year here at Cleobury. A huge thank you to all the staff for their hard work. As you read this it is a very sad day for me (Dave) as I turn 30 I guess my boyish good looks and full head of hair will now start to disappear FAST!!
With what must be close to over a 1000 golfer gracing CMGC over the last week everyone has spoken how good the course is. As this picture below shows the course is looking fantastic at the moment. The trees are in leaf, everything is nice and green and of course the putting surface is lightening quick!
A big thank you to the Millichip family and everyone involved for making the Charity Day on Friday such a success. We are very honoured to host the biggest charity day in the local region with 58 four balls playing on Friday. For anyone who is unsure what the day is all about, click here to watch a video.
Pictured below is Tom and his team of Stuart, Mark and Paul leading the pack at 7.04am. The last tee time was 2.40pm!

Worcestershire Open Pro Am
The first ever Worcestershire Open Pro Am was held at Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club on Monday 11th May 2015. With the organisers of the event and the greenkeepers starting work at 5am everything was in place to make it a memorable day. The event was sponsored by Kidderminster Self Storage and was supported with a total of 26 teams of four from various clubs around the Midlands. With the greens lightening quick and the wind getting stronger as the day went on scoring was very tough. Bransford were the first team out and made the most of the lighter conditions to record 79 as a team and win overall. The amateurs pick up a fantastic Titleist stand bag and county jumper with the professional Timothy taking home £95.
Chris Bottrill (Burlish Park), Tom Walbrick (Bromsgrove) and Ashley Picker (Gaudet Luce) finished tied 5th in the professionals with 31 points picking up £116.66 each. Finley Clarke (Wharton Park) and Mark Plummer (Burlish Park) tied for third place and picked up £340 each. The day however belong to the old and new generation of professionals within the local circuit. Luke Towler (Telford) dug deep to score 34 points despite dropping 3 shots in the last 5 holes. This score was matched by Marcus Knight who started his career at Cleobury some 20 years ago and made a special trip over from Switzerland to support the event. Marcus shot a 1 under par around the tough back nine to finish also on 34 points. Marcus and Luke both took home £585 each.
Marcus had this to say 'Thank you to everyone for supporting this great event, it is an honor to finish joint winner with Luke. I am sure you will all agree the course was fantastic and a special thank you to Richard and Cleobury for organizing the event and a huge thank you to Andy Smith and Kidderminster Self Storage for sponsoring the event, see you all next year'.

New Specials!
George and the kitchen team have been busy preparing a new specials board. The old favourites of Lasagne, ham, egg and chips and steak and ale pie are still on there.
BUT the new additions of a 8oz cod and the CMGC monster burger are delightful.
George was nice enough to let us all sample the burger and it is a monster and a half! If your starving after a round make sure you have it. It will not let you down!
Player of the Month
As mentioned last week Mark Southall has been named the April player of the month for his hole in one display. Here is Mark pictured receiving the trophy off Vice-captain Dave Moore and Captain Jon Gaskell.
Stableford
The summer season at Cleobury Mortimer has well and truly kicked off with some great scores and golf being played. Young Charlie Edwards who has been practicing hard over the last few weeks shot an impressive 37 points dispute some problems on the greens with a four putt! Simon Eades also played some great golf in the afternoon to record 36 points.
The day however belonged to John Westley. John has had a fantastic 2015 with individual and team wins already under his belt. John shot an impressive 39 points to take spot and get ever closer to his goal of single figures.
Resident coach Sam Pain had this to say on John...
'John has had a stand out 2015 being in the mix for many competitions. It is great to see him practicing before he tees off which is clearly working, he is a dead cert for single figures before the end of the season'.
Final standings
1st - John Westley - 39 points
2nd - Charlie Edwards - 37 points
3rd - Simon Eades - 36 points
