Hello from the one and only CMGC!
This week has felt just like summer with the club buzzing and busier than ever. As I write this it is all hands on deck as the 2015 Beer and Music Festival is fast approaching. Team CMGC are over playing at Bridgnorth in the pro-am (once again fielding 3 teams) and this weekend will also see Guy Taylor's handicap team play their first match…. Best of luck for the season Guy.
I (Dave) have been out and about this week sorting out some fantastic membership benefits. In addition I have been networking with other professionals whilst promoting our Pro Am at Cleobury on May 11th. I am very happy to report we already have 15 teams playing in it. Andy Smith a long standing member and his business (Kidderminster Self Storage) are generously sponsoring the event. It is set to be one of the stand out events within Worcestershire and the West Midlands region.
Yet more fantastic membership benefits have been secured for CMGC. The Herefordshire Golf Club are now part of the CMGC reciprocal rates. To play this fantastic golf course over the summer months will cost just £15 midweek or £20 weekends. All you need to do is present your CMGC membership card.
The Herefordshire is now part of a growing list of courses we deal with. You can play the following courses at these prices:

Beer Festival This Weekend!
The 6th annual Cleobury Mortimer beer and music festival is this weekend at Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club! The scaffold is up, the beer in the cellar, commemorative glasses here and ticket sales stronger than ever. We have one lodge available last minute for £120 for the Saturday night or £200 for both the Friday and Saturday. Remember 4 people can fit in a lodge so it offers excellent value.
For the sixth year in a row the Cleobury Beer Festival is back to kick off the season. Last year saw record crowds descend to Cleobury Mortimer and organisers are hoping for the same again. 2015 will see a record number of ales and ciders on show sourced from a 25 mile radius. Once again the festival is a celebration of St Georges day.
As well as a fine selection of drinks on show, there will of course be the very much-anticipated Open Mic Entertainment once again headed by Cleobury resident Aaron Booton. Aaron will performing a mixture of current chart hits as well as some old classics, 2014 saw 12 hours of constant entertainment from Aaron and other talented local musicians.
Although a Beer Festival the festival very much has a family feel to it with plenty of soft drinks available for under 18's and the music is something the whole family can enjoy.
Local food including burgers and hot dogs will also be available throughout the day.
Tickets are £5 in advance, which includes a pint glass and a pint (free admission for under 18's).
Tickets are available from the golf club or from www.cleoburybeerfestival.bigcartel.com
Hosted at Cleobury Mortimer golf club on Friday and Saturday 24th and 25th of April.
Festival Organiser Dave Pain added
'This project was started by three local lads who wanted to celebrate St Georges day and showcase just how fantastic our local area is. Now into its 6th year it has stood the test of time and has continued to grow. Rest assured we have plenty of surprises up our sleeves to once again make it the best one yet'.

Some Samba Magic Seals Medal Win
The first medal of the season was contested at Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club on Sunday 19th April 2015. Conditions on the day were once again tough with the greens lightening quick. Bryan Colley (2nd) continued his fine consistent form along with last week's winner Karl Tyers who finished third.
The day belonged to Eduardo Nascimento who shot on incredible five under nett 66 to win by one. This win now see Eduardo's handicap cut by two. Resident golf coach Sam has been giving Eduardo lessons and had this to say 'Eduardo hits the ball really well for someone off his handicap we made some swing path changes and worked on his release at impact to give greater distance and accuracy. Even off his new handicap he won't be there for long'!
Eduardo added, 'I played really well today and want to thank Sam for his help and tips, he is a great coach and has given me some tips to work on'.
A special mention also goes to Ash Preece who shot 41 points on Saturday with the nearest score to him being 35 points. It was a dominant display.
A big congratulations to Club Captain Jon Gaskell and his Vice Captain Dave Moore who are through to the third round of the Mail on Sunday Foursomes. Jon and Dave beat a very strong pairing from Little Lakes 5 & 3 on Sunday.
The third round draw could see them playing further afield in the Midlands but they are hopeful of a home draw.
Jon and Dave had this to say 'Home advantage is key as Cleobury is a tough track if you have not played it before. The quick greens certainly caught our opponents out, we are delighted to progress'.

Well, there is certainly a real buzz around the club now with summer just around the corner and temperatures are on the up.
Firstly congratulations to Sam Pain on winning his first competition as a professional, let's hope it's the first of many, Good Luck Sam.
Congratulations also to Deborah Fearnley on winning our first Captains Player of the Month for March, donated by Dave Moore (VC) and myself which is open to all members including Juniors.
Last week's Easter Open was a great success with a complete sell out and we were also blessed with great weather and a fantastic course, with amazing greens. The club received many compliments from visitors both on the day and also from county players on Sunday. Well done to Rob and his green keepers.
I have been very busy lately, working on arrangements for the Captains Weekend, 19th, 20th and 21st June, which I hope will be a great weekend with lots going on and a fair few prizes to be won. Hope to see you all there.

£10 Re-Spike In 30 minutes
To kick off the season now the ground has firmed up it is very important to check out your spikes. We are offering re-spikes for £10 and complete within 30 minutes.
So why have them done? In simple terms a new set will give you extra stability and grip when swinging the club and walking around the course.
Now you may be wonder why I have posted a picture of some shoes with worn spikes…. Well here is the secret, in the middle of the spikes there is a C which stands for Cleat the company who make them. But on the others you cannot make it out… When the C shows signs of wear that is when you know it is time to get them done. The C is not there for advertising but as an indicator!
So turn your shoes over check them and if they need doing drop them into us for a £10 re-spike whilst you have a quick drink in the bar.
