Firstly, we hope you enjoyed the festive period over the past few weeks. Secondly, in this week's email, we look ahead to some exciting events taking place this year as well as a look back at the luckiest shots seen on the European Tour in our Video of the Week.

Club news

Club update...

As you will most likely be aware this week's government announcement, unfortunately, means that Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club will be closed until further notice.

The last week has been really frustrating for us all with the snow and a national lockdown was not how we envisioned the start of 2021, however, the vaccine roll out gives us all hope for the future and we can look forward to some more enjoyable golf in the Spring.

Despite adversity, we're going to try and keep you all updated with work and plans at the club whilst it’s closed.

Typically, we had sunshine and wind on the first day of lockdown 3.0.... can you believe it after all the awful weather over Christmas?

On the plus side, this kind of weather is exactly what we want to dry it out.

The FULL greenkeeping team will be staying on full time. Like many jobs that involve being outside the weather can play a big part, fingers crossed it stays dry. Below is some jobs that will be attempted over the next 3 weeks. We will then see what the weather is doing and plan February accordingly...

Tree work finished off on Badgers Sett.
- 3rd right-hand side - making it easier to cut with machines.
- 4th right-hand side - making it easier to find your ball.
- 8th right-hand side - looking to bring the pond on the right-hand side into play a bit more.

Drainage - a mini digger is being hired for 2 weeks, as many ditches as possible (depending how wet areas are) will be cleared out, made deeper and wider. Existing drains leading into these ditches will be cleaned.

Plus the usual day to day jobs such as swishing greens etc.

Golf on Tour

A look ahead at what's to come...

2020 was a year like no other, both in golf and in the world as a whole. However, with 2021 now upon us, let’s take a look at some of the events for us golf fans to get excited about this year…

Firstly, The Masters returns to its April date, just five months on from Dustin Johnson’s record-breaking win back in November. This is followed by three more Majors in the men's game and five in the women's, including the one that got away in 2020: The Open Championship!

To top it all off, we have both the Ryder Cup and Solheim Cup in the same month - September. Let’s hope Team Europe are partying twice this September! Oh, and let's not forget about the Olympics!

Something to work towards

Come rain or shine, golfers never need an excuse to dust off the cobwebs and get onto the course. So, with lots of golf to (hopefully) look forward to in 2021, there's no better time to conjure up some golf-based resolutions for the year ahead.

Making resolutions

You may have decided you’d like to reduce the number of three-putts you have each round (don't we all!) or to get less frustrated when you hit a bad shot. Whatever your resolutions are, we're here to help in any way possible.

Walking in a winter wonderland

Long walks are as much a part of the festive season as eating too much turkey and dozing on the sofa afterwards. Greg Norman once said ‘Happiness is a long walk with a putter’. Now, it would be a little odd to take your putter on a festive walk, but one thing you'll definitely need is a good jacket!
