Weekend Competitions A big well done to Dean Carpenter and Dave Broad who won their respective divisions in the weekend competition. Please note if the weather is horrendous we will change the competitions to 9 holes. You will always have the option to carry on and play 18 holes but to keep people interested in playing 9 holes does work. Fingers crossed this does not happen often but sometimes the weather does not play ball! |
Christmas Open 2020!
The strange year that is 2020 is slowly coming to an end, golf courses are back open and that meant the annual Christmas Open was able to take place.
I must say a big thank you firstly to the staff for working so hard to make sure the event actually took place.
The tier 2 restrictions that are in place are not easy to follow, we wanted the event to go ahead and the clubhouse staff did a great job making it super safe.
The greenkeepers also need a big thank you, the conditions in the lead up to the event were horrendous however they got the greens clear and made the course playable. Finally a big thank you to the 92 golfers that played, respected the rules and had a great time.
Grieve, Grieve, Wilson and Bloomer shot a very impressive 83 points to take the mixed prize, it was a close call with 81 in second place. In the non-mixed section, the first team out led by Bob Lucas shot 88 points. Normally in the best two from four 90 is the benchmark. Duncan Hughes and his team went one better with 91 points which was enough for second place.

The day however belonged to Tim Whitehouse, Dave Bessant, George Blakeway and Ian Juckes. The single figure golfers of George and Dave plus Ian sat back and let Tim do the work with a man of the match performance on the back nine. He shot level par playing off 15.
They finished with 94 points and are the 2020 Christmas Open winners.

New boundaries Now we are back open it has been great to see so many of you back enjoying your golf. With the demand of golf being high the course has certain high traffic areas have took a bit of a battering.
Living next to a screw fix has its positives as I am able to click and collect nice and easily, 2000m of rope have been purchased and 100 poles. Us golfers always look for shortcuts but in reality, we are like sheep. We will be roping off certain areas to guide us all around which will protect the fronts of greens and teeing areas.
Please remember though it is hedgehog wheels if you have a trolley.

We're in the festive mood! By the time you're reading this, it'll be almost two weeks until the big day rolls around. We know that there'll be plenty of you who are still trying to tick presents off the list - as well as some who haven't started yet!
