Greetings from Cleobury Golf

Hello from a rather chilly CMGC, as I write this the temperature is dropping. There has been a light scattering of snow which is not the end of the world we could be Rob Allenby right now! Click here to read more.

Fingers crossed by the time this reaches you it will be nice and dry! The greenkeepers have been busy doing what they can on the course. As demonstrated in the photo the course is holding up very well considering the weather. The greenkeepers take some time during this part of the season to service all the machines and grind the blades to make sure they are in tip top shape ready for the cutting season.

Once again we welcome some new members to CMGC, Mark and Terence have joined us this past week and we hope they enjoy their golf with us at Cleobury. It's great to see more new members joining CMGC and we are sure everyone will make them welcome.

You may remember just before Christmas we were talking about the Motocaddy and club repair centre. I am happy to announce all the repair equipment has been ordered. We are also off for our Motocaddy training. Therefore it is all coming into place nicely!

Men's Four Ball Betterball 17/1/15

It was panic stations at Cleobury on Friday with a band of snow reported to be heading towards the golf course Saturday morning. However it was far from that, although the temperature was below freezing, glorious sunshine greeted the competitors for the betterball. The best two scores on each hole counted in this four ball competition. Some formidable teams on paper were out playing some great golf. Club vice captain Dave Moore and his team of Gary Hingley, Jamie Fearnley and Bob Barlow thought they had done enough when they posted a very impressive 86 points.

However they were to fall just short of the early birds, Phil Baker, Daniel Berwick, Richard Kimberlin and team captain Ian Baker. The team were first out and had the toughest of the sub zero conditions. They however played some great golf and posted 87 points which stood all day to give them the win, which incidentally was their first since joining the club over two years ago.

Golf events organiser Matt Juliard of Cleobury had this to say 'It is great to see some fresh faces winning at Cleobury. They have a great mix of handicaps which suited the format with each player evenly contributing under Ian's captaincy'.

Final Standings:

1st - Pictured from left - Phil Baker, Richard Kimberlin, Daniel Berwick, Ian Baker - 87 points.

2nd - Gary Hingley, Dave Moore, Jamie Fearnley, Bob Barlow - 86 points.

Don't be late! Golf is a sport that generally takes a long time to play, if you're committing yourself to four hours out on the course what is another half hour to get to the club early and have a proper warm up. This will allow you hit some shots, use the short game area and have a putt. You can't expect to have a good round if your running onto the tee with no pre round routine.

Sam -

Learn your distances! Now is the ideal time to learn your average distances with each club. Book in a session with myself using the Ernest sport launch monitor, we can then find your precise distances.

Amy

If you are struggling on a certain area of your game, get a lesson before it gets any worse. The professionals will be able to give advice and coach you before you have a meltdown on the course, which isn't nice for yourself or your playing partners.
