Club Championship Predictions The Men’s Club Championships are just around the corner beginning on Saturday 5th September and concluding the following day on Sunday 6th September. To enter please book a slot on the BRS for the Saturday. Sunday tee times will be based on Saturday's performance with the leaders going out last. Tee times will be emailed out as soon as possible Saturday evening which we would imagine will be about 7.00pm as the last cards should be in around 6.00pm. We like to have a little fun with our predictions so let's see who we have gone for this year...
Tom Some good players will once again be competing for the gross prize, Charlie Edwards is in good form after his Presidents Day win, Adam Winnall is a solid player and Grant Carbines very rarely makes a mistake but I can’t see anything other than a Jack Severn win. He hits it miles and after watching him make it look so easy last year I can’t see anything other than a 3 or 4-stroke victory. The Nett is always tough to call so this year I’ve used competition data to give me some insights into who can handle the pressure. From 11 competitive rounds, Sam Flello has shot within SSS +2 on 8 occasions. You can’t win it on the first day but if Sam can be with a couple of his handicap after day one then I can see him lifting the trophy when the pressure picks up on day 2.

I think the Edwards brothers are going to bring it home! Gross Winner – Charlie Edwards Charlie hits it a long way and when he gets his timing right, he doesn’t really go wrong! I think that if he can keep a cool head and find his swing from the start of Day 1, he’ll keep it for the weekend and bring home the bacon! Nett Winner – Louie Edwards He may be a bit of an outsider, but I’ve played with Louie a couple of times recently and he can knock it around very steadily! His putting looks to be the part of his game that makes him score so if he can get a read on the greens, I think he can go low!

Gross- Charlie Edwards, I play a lot of golf with Charlie and know he can go low, he can get it out there if he can keep his cool he can definitely contend Nett- David Mendham, looks to be coming into form just getting cut to single figures and is not afraid of going under his handicap, if he can keep the ball in play and keep those big scores off the card he will thereabouts come the end of play on Sunday
Dave Like Tom I cannot see past a Jack Severn win, he has got his driving going again and casually hitting it 300 off the tee. He has also started plotting his way around the course using irons off many tees. Jack is also the modern professional and you won't see him out in the pub the night before.
I think his closest challenger will be Charlie Edwards - if he can convince him to go out on the Saturday night then its anyone's... hungover golf is a speciality for many and something Jack will have little experience in! Nett - This is Russian roulette, it is 36 holes and you have to be in the mix after day one.
Dave Jones is steady but liable to a shank, Graham Perks is a dark horse if you can keep his stamina up. Tom Mason is also down to single figures and always shoots around his handicap.
However, I am going for Adrian Bloomer, Adrian is one of the most consistent golfers in the club off the tee. If his iron play stays with him I can see him easily shooting level net for the two days which should be enough to take the trophy. |
