Hello one and all! Another week passes us by and it is great to see the club so busy. It really feels like some normality is coming back to the club with the competitions busy, bar busy and the catering now operating a full menu.
As always we have plenty to cover this week, including the President's Day coverage, so sit back relax and enjoy the read.

On course to be great!
This Wednesday will be two weeks since Foxes Run had the work done on the greens.
We are really pleased with how the dressing has settled in.
You may remember the contractors said it would be around 3 weeks until fully recovered and we believe we are, touch wood, ahead of schedule.
The height of cut will now start to be lowered on Foxes greens to get them back to their best.

| This amount off cores is off just one green! Rafa pictured to give an idea on size! |
|
Deer Park is now next up and this work along with the putting green and short game area. This will be done on Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th. Like Foxes this will mean for those two days Deer Park will be closed, with it back open on Friday 21st.
Please be mindful when booking tee times on those two days that the course will feel busier than normal as 9 holes will be closed. Please also be mindful this is essential work and for the first week, the greens will be bobbly, sandy and slower than normal. You do not need to pop into the pro shop and tell me... I already know!
Deer Park will be cut 1 day and rolled the next day and so forth for the first week whilst the sand, seeds and fertiliser settle in, after that first week they will be cut daily like the rest of the greens.
If you are playing after work and it is 12 hours since they were cut or rolled they may be slower than expected. |

President's Day 2020
The first Cleobury major of the season was played on Saturday for the Presidents Cup!
It was the biggest field of the year with 85 playing with the winner of each division picking up a tasty £60 voucher!
Club president Tom Straughton was at the club for a few hours in the bar chatting to all. Stuart Wilson and John Gallagher were cruising after the front nine with a huge 23 points, however, Deer Park came back to bite them and sadly they couldn't kick on.
Talking of Deer Park, this was the course for the nine-hole trophy and was won by Martin Cleaver with 20 points on countback.
Adrian Bloomer fresh from 4 weeks in Croatia cruised to 39 points in his first game back to take second place in Division One. Helena Nash was also in fine form shooting 39 points to take second place in division 2. Mark Broughton also had 39 points and nicked top spot on countback from Helena collecting 6 points in his last two holes.
The best score of the day and overall winner of the President's Day was Charlie Edwards.
Charlie playing off a handicap of 6 and fresh at the club after a night on the Hobsons shot a huge 41 points. The foundations were set with a gross 35 around Badgers Sett. It was not all plain sailing for Charlie though as he explains...
'I am obviously really happy to get the win but I thought I blew it, on the last hole I was just short of the green in 2 and had some chipping problems and walked off with a 6 for zero points. I had played solid all day but just had a lapse in concentration. With the club champs coming shortly it is nice to find some form. Thanks to president Tom for hosting a great day'.
As a side note I have given a lesson to Charlie (putting), Mark (swing), Helena (driving),Adrian (swing) and Martin (short game) over the last month or so. It is great to see them getting just rewards for hard work!
Mark in particular has dropped a massive 7 shots since March.
My lessons are open to any level of ability, contact us to get your own lesson by clicking here . |

County Cards - Message from the county secretary below.
I am pleased to advise you that all men and boys who are members of any club affiliated to The Worcestershire Union of Golf Clubs can now download themselves a Digital County Card. The county ladies are currently working on this but it is not live just yet.
Anyone who holds a plastic County Card, or who requests a new date sticker to update their old card, should be advised to download the new Digital Card instead. The process is very simple and should take members no more than 2/3 minutes to complete. However, you will need to know your CDH (Central Database of Handicaps) number. How to download a Digital County Card
- Go to your normal app store on your phone.
- Search for igCounty App - it is free.
- Load and Install the App
- Enter the County Card part of the menu
- Enter your details as requested - every member will need their CDH number
- Refresh the screen
County Card should be displayed, including County Logo, member name, current date, home club and handicap, and will be available every time the member subsequently opens the app.
Obviously, you only need to go through the installation process once, and then the card is there forever, provided you remain a member of a Worcestershire affiliated club. |
