Things are slowly getting back to normal which means the weekly newsletters are back and here to stay! We have plenty to report this week, so sit back, relax and enjoy the read. |
Looking great... The course is really taking shape now, the greens are lightening and after the rain Monday they are nice and receptive. The lads this week are focusing on the little touches around the course such as tee markers, yardage markers and pond reeds. They are also making a start on the edging of the bunkers this is a big job and they are doing it in the mornings when no one is around and it is safe to do so. You can see the before and after below...

Green fees The online booking system has been a massive hit, we are looking to increase the advanced booking. However, having the three 9-hole loops makes it difficult. Just to set up a day take between 90 and 120 minutes. We are also back taking visitor green fees along with members guests. The online booking will be here to stay for the foreseeable, we need to have an accurate representation of who is or has been onsite. If you are a visitor looking to book, please call us on 01299 271112 (1 green fee must be paid over the phone to secure the booking) or book online by clicking here.
Guests 9 holes £20 18 holes £25
Visitors 18 holes midweek £30,after 2pm £25 18 holes weekend £35, after 2pm £30 Members Please don’t ask us to bend the rules and book you in before the tee sheet is live, it is an awkward situation and we will say no - it is not fair on everyone else!

New scoring The scoring app that is linked to your ClubV1 member's account has been superb. This will be here to stay making it so much easier to sign in, enter scores and see the results. The one thing we are working on is getting the live leader board updated, watch this space. Return to competition... 25th of July was the date many might have dreaded, feared…. the first medal since lockdown.
We had a great turnout of 59 players entering the prestigious competition. Due to poor weather last year, this year’s Aggregate competition is this year’s first leg and last year’s second leg as it is played over two rounds with the lowest nett score coming out on top.
This year, the competition was played on a tough scoring day fluttered with intermitting rain showers and gusting winds to further challenge the players.
The winner, in the end, was Jack Severn who shot an impressive 4 under gross 66 to win on the day by a stroke and the aggregate competition which he was one stroke behind David Mendham going into Saturday’s competition from last year.
Jack said after his round, "today was tough medal scoring conditions, it put a real emphasis on keeping the ball in play and not making main mistakes which I did really well only making the one dropped shot, looking back on my round I defiantly left some shots out there which shows I’m yet at my full potential but I’m on the right track.’’
|
Jack also said, ‘’With the current situation with Covid, it put a bit of spanner in the works regarding my future plans playing-wise, in of April this year I was supposed to be playing Euro Pro qualifying, but unfortunately, they made the decision to cancel the tour for this year. Hopefully, I'll be ready for the next round of Q school for next season. However, on a more positive it means I’ll have more time to play in competitions here to really get my handicap as low as I can.’’

Club captain Paul Judge and his vice-captain Tom Guest at the first committee meeting of the year have made the decision to change the main club competition pay out to 75%. This means 75% will go to the prize fund and the remaining 25% go into the club funds. Competitions are bookable three weeks in advance and all online via the BRS. |
Lessons
All golf lessons are currently only bookable through the pro shop. I must say I have been blown away by the support given to me on these. For the last month I have done over 30 a week. It has been so much fun working with golfers of all abilities and seeing you get your handicap reduced and of course winning! |
I don’t want to single to many golfers out however a shout out to Dylan Edwards who has been working on his driving and two weeks later wins his first trophy competition! If you are looking to improve or have a pre paid package you would like to get started please call the pro shop on 01299271112 to get started. My main coaching days are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. |
