Season greetings one and all, another week passes us by and not a lot has changed Wolves remain unbeaten in 11, WBA are top, Villa are out of the relegation zone on goal difference and the weather at CMGC remains the same… WET! |
The lads have asked that Monday – Thursday from 1pm that we close Badgers Sett from now until Christmas. This is the most played nine at the moment as needs a bit of a rest. We will also close it on the odd day when it is quiet. It is amazing the difference it can make with just 24 hour of no play, it does recover quickly. Can we also please repair pitchmarks as there is so many on badgers recently and it is a bit disheartening to be honest! If you don’t have a pitchfork we have some on sale in the pro shop for just £2… no excuses! If anyone needs a last-minute Christmas tree please let us know, we have a few left for £10 delivery by Rafa! Enjoy this week's read. |

Christmas Party The 2019 CMGC Christmas party was once again a HUGE success, George, Milly, Claire, Sally, Ellie, Lowri, Hannah and Tash all did an amazing job with the service and food. It was the first Christmas dinner for many of us and I had massive food envy when the game pie in a giant Yorkshire pudding came out! I will certainly be trying for that next time. The one thing that did crack us up was the quiz and the below picture…. Out of the nine tables four put the answer as Ant and Dec…. not Dave and Tom although I guess we are the CMGC answer to Ant and Dec! The room as pictured was also looking amazing. As mentioned we are going to be making a real effort with functions in 2020. If you would like to see the room or book in a party etc please get in touch here.

Christmas Open Results The 2019 Christmas Open was once again fully subscribed with 112 players taking part. The forecast said cloudy and light rain, however the microclimate of CMGC struck and heavy rain appeared mid-afternoon to test the golfers. A big thank you to the greenkeepers who worked overtime to clear the greens and get the course playable. The scoring was once again fantastic with the mixed teams once again well amongst it. Kathy, Alex, Stu and Graeme showed their class to finish on 89 points and take first place from Andreae, Billingham, Billingham and Walker on 83 points. Alan Williams and the Little Lakes Lads were defending champions and once again put up a great fight finishing second on 91 points. Barber, Maze, Freeman, Barker recorded 89 points to take third place but it was the overall winners however were a mixed team from Enville and Churchill and Blakedown which is the first time ever! The Coopers of Jon, Suzi, Peter and Jackie blitzed it over Badgers Sett to score 92 and take the overall title. A huge thank you to everyone that entered today, our next open is on Thursday 23rd April 2020 for Easter, we look forward to seeing you all then.
