A big thank you to everyone who messaged me about baby Beatrix... I am sorry I have not had a chance to reply to all but I have read them all!

Everything is all good and Mum and baby are at home… She came via C–section in the end so I have had a bit of time at home to help and give Eve a rest.

You will see me out and about and I have a few lesson slots available, but I’ll be back to work fully 1.11.19.

Competition news

Seniors & Ladies Fixture 18/10/19

This much-anticipated fixture was well subscribed with 34 playing in the match between Seniors Captain Roger Bartlett and Ladies Captain Jane Evison.

Playing a Mixed Pairs Better Ball format everyone arrived early as players were drawn and placed into the Lady Captains Team or Senior Captains Team.

With plenty of good golf played in good spirit the end result went the way of the Lady Captains team.

A return match will be forthcoming in the near future...

The Summer Eclectic Season 2019 has now finished with Chris Perry, Gloria Bullock and Sue Davis taking top spot.

Triple Dutch Waltz

The Orange Pairs Waltz on Sunday 20th October had a good turn out with 68 playing in the first edition of this competition. With one score to count on odd holes and both scores to count on even holes a level par score would equal 54 points. First out were Dean Rogers (8) and Graham Fletcher (13) who rallied on the back 9 to shoot an impressive 56 points to set the early lead.

Plenty of scores of 52 points were returned but Ian Gough and Paul Harrison managed to take 3rd spot with 53 points. Two shots better were Jezz Duffield and John Westley who returned 55 points after a nice 8 pointer on the 7th Badgers but a dropped shot on the last would prove crucial. In the end, Dean and Graham managed to hold on to top spot for the whole day and be crowned the first winners of the Orange Pairs Waltz. Well played.

Four nearest the pins were up for grabs with Paul Judge, Adam Cook, Ade Bloomer and Dean Sadler taking these. Josh awarded Alan Walker the best-dressed prize after matching his orange top with some orange shorts, which showed good commitment amongst low temperatures.

Captains Drive-in

The new club captains drive in this Sunday! They will be driving in at 8am with a shot gun start competition then kicking off at 8.30am. This is open to ALL members, entry is just £5 and a meal will be served after to all players. The trophy presentation will also be happening after play.

Our night with James Williams is now VERY close to selling out.

If you have pencilled your name in or thinking about attending please get your tickets confirmed asap. He is very talented and super excited to be coming to CMGC.

I spoke to him last week and he said will is now going to bring his full lights show to make the whole evening extra special.

Rugby this weekend

After England’s fine win in the world cup against Australia it will be a different kettle of fish against the All Blacks Saturday morning.

Kick-off is at 9am and with that it is perfect timing for a full English and a pint of Guinness.

This proved very popular last week and will again be JUST £9.99!

Match Room

The match room renovation is now almost complete; Nigel and Ant are doing the finishing touches and will have the wallpaper on by the end of the week.

This is also sadly Nigel’s last week, he lives in Kingswinford and will be joining Hagley golf club which is just 5 minutes from his house.

Who had a pair of these?

I'm sure the shoes below will make a lot of you smile. It's been a long time since golf shoes looked like the first image and it's safe to say that comfort, style and traction have all come a long way since then - even if some of us think the overlapping tongues looked great!

Old style shoes

It wasn't just the daring uppers and striking tongue that defined golf shoes from yesteryear; flip the shoes upside down and the hard leather outsole featured single metal spikes that resembled weapons more so than traction pods.
