More rainy day jobs
Just like last week the rainy day jobs have continued here at CMGC!
The toilets and non-spike bar have been painted, the patio furniture has been stained and put into storage, the men's changing backboards have been re-waxed, the smoking shelter has had the roof re-felted, guttering added and the floor stained and cleaned.
Next up is the match room which is being managed by Milly and Claire.
Here are a couple of picture updates. |

Champion of Champions
With horrendous weather overnight and in the morning the 2019 Champion of Champions would be seriously worthy. Thankfully the forecast was correct and it did stop at 10am! Conditions were very tough with it being wet, windy and miserable!
John Gallagher and Paul Liggins both finished on 34 points which was a fantastic effort, however with 3 blobs on the back nine John finished third on countback. The day however belonged to James Whitehouse who despite having two blobs recorded a huge 41 one points!
Superb knock considering the weather and here he is collecting the trophy off of last year’s Champion of Champions Rhys Short.

Since the game began in the 15th century, there is one thing that has never changed – the ball being the only piece of equipment used on every shot. Despite this, it still gets a raw deal with some golfers viewing it as less important than the clubs used to hit it. So, we decided to take a look back and see how modern golf balls compare to those of yesteryear. |
| Srixon's AD333 (2019) golf ball |
|
In the beginning Feathery balls reigned supreme for over 200 years in the early days of golf, but even they are relatively new compared to the original hairy balls (guess what they were stuffed with!). It's hard to imagine what it would be like playing with those balls these days, and even the later-developed Gutty and Haskell balls left golfers with little-to-no room for error.
|
Where we are today The ability to make a ball that was both incredibly soft and goes for miles was simply not possible 100 years ago. However, that's exactly what Srixon has done in the new AD333 thanks to FastLayer technology - you can learn more via the link below. There is also a yellow option that provides an element of personalisation - a little addition that was not possible in days gone by.
