Conditions
If you are a buggy user please call the shop to check conditions. The greenkeepers have also asked us to try and give Badgers Sett a rest where possible. It is by far the most played nine at CMGC making it always a difficult balancing act especially with the 6th and 7th greens which are often the two that struggle. If you see the closed sign please respect it or if you would like to specifically play it please ask when booking tee times.

Triple Dutch
Over the last two years, we have been very fortunate to have the Stheeman family sponsor a day here at CMGC in memory of their father Henk, who was a member at CMGC for a couple of years.
Unfortunately this year the family will be unable to sponsor the event for the third and final time however we would still like to run a competition on Sunday 20th October with an orange theme for Henk and his family.
We will therefore be holding an Orange Pairs Waltz on Sunday 20th October. The competition will be open to men, ladies, juniors and seniors.
Entry will be £5.00 with the following prizes up for grabs and don’t forget to wear orange.
- Best Dressed - Top 3 Scores - 4 Nearest the Pins - 2’s Sweep
We hope we can get as many pictures as possible of everyone to send over to the Stheeman family.
Sign up on the BRS, 9/10’S Handicap. 1 score to count on odd holes, both scores to count on even holes.
Pictured below was last year’s entry.

End of season win
Storm clouds had forced us to cancel the planned mixed friendly at Fulford Heath recently, so it was worrying times, when the clouds began to gather once more and the weekend weather forecast was looking ominous but despite this, the bold decision was taken to press on with the final mixed friendly of 2019 season. And so it was that Cleobury hosted a team from The Herefordshire. One reason for pressing on with the match was that several of the Herefordshire players had not played at Cleobury before and had been looking forward to it given all the good things they had heard about our club.
A few rains squalls dampened things a little but this certainly did not dampen what was an extremely enjoyable afternoon of golf followed by a great Steak & Ale pie.
Special mention should go to Garry Hawes who was the team captain for the day. As Sian was taken ill that morning, it was too late to find a replacement, so Garry had to play on his own in his match. Despite a great effort on his part he lost, but the most upsetting thing for Garry was that he was playing against his sister and brother-in-law. So no bragging rights for Garry: until next year.
Despite Garry’s loss, team Cleobury came out on top with another great victory to sign off the 2019 mixed friendly season.
Thanks to all those who have supported the club in this season’s mixed friendly comps.

New Titleist balls
Can you believe it has been two years since the introduction of DT TruSoft… where has time gone?!
Now we have the brand new DT TruFeel. The big thing that has changed with the ball is that they are after more distance whilst maintaining the nice soft feel the DT range has always offered. They have achieved this by lowering the compression of the core of the ball to deliver more distance. However, they have changed the cover of the ball to give a very soft feel off the face and especially around the greens. Titleist have also added a nice alignment mark on the side of the ball to help with putting plus they have a red ball coming for the winter…. All in my opinion excellent additions.
These are the biggest selling ball at CMGC and I feel with the added distance the ball can whilst maintaining the soft feel, grow in market share.
We have some special sleeves that give 4 balls for the price of 3 and priced at £6. You can take a dozen for £20 or two dozen for £35.
We are looking for four members who currently use the existing DT or Srixon to test them out. Simply reply to me HERE. With what you currently use, the first four who reply will get a sleeve to try in exchange for a couple of words after your round about how it performs.

The popularity of Distance Measuring Devices (DMDs) has been growing for several years as golfers seek as much help as possible whilst out on the course. Our recent survey indicated that over 70% of you choose to use one, so we thought we'd highlight one of our favourites in this week's newsletter. |
| Garmin Approach S40 watch
|
|
GPS devices are not just about reading front, middle and back yardages. Well, in some cases they are, but not when it comes to Garmin’s Approach S40 watch. As we know, the course can be played several different ways and the Approach S40 displays distances to hazards and doglegs at a glance, which will prove vital when trying to take your course management to the next level.
|
In fact, at this time of the year when a wet course is a regular occurrence, knowing your yardages has never been more important. This is where the S40 comes into its own as it allows you to alter the pin's position on your watch so you can get highly accurate distances. Pretty clever stuff! We have a brilliant review video that you can view by clicking the link below. |
