Druids Heath Winter Series
Our latest round of summer/winter series took us to Druids Heath golf club in Walsall. This was a course we were all looking forward to playing, so much so we took 5 teams! John Salt who is an ex-captain at Druids plays at CMGC a lot and managed to get some other Druids members to join us so he had one player in each team to show us around. The team captains were Dave, Jack, Josh, Christian and Ash Cook.
If you have not played Druids it is really worth a visit…The course and hospitality are of the highest standard.
The teams were very evenly matched and this was highlighted by the scoring 69, 70, 71, 71 and 72 were recorded Team Christian, Team Josh, Team Dave, Team Jack (countback and the winners by a single point were Team Ash! A huge thank you to everyone for playing and making it such a fun day.

Greenkeepers trenching
With the heavy dews in the mornings the lads have managed to crack on with some extra trenching whilst the dew lifts before cutting. This time they have added extra drainage on the front of the 4th tee on Badgers Sett. These are connected to the ditches and will also help with the 3rd of Badgers.
The little bits we keep adding will continue to help going into the winter.

Ponds tidied up
As reported last week some of the ponds on Badgers Sett have had a good tidy up!
Bob Price and Sons were once again on hand to take on the job and as always have done a great job. The 4th and 9th were the main ones to be cleared out and re-defined.
They certainly look bigger and more intimidating!

Hole in 1 Bevan
Huge congratulations to Bevan Garrard who has just had a hole in 1 on the 220 yard 8th of Deer Park.
What is hilarious is none of his playing partners saw the shot and they were looking in the bunker and long grass for it!
Bevan has put a bottle of whiskey behind the bar for all to enjoy.

Robert Rock Junior Event 2020
We are delighted to announce that we have been selected as a host course for a 2020 Robert Rock junior golf tour. We will be hosting on Sunday 4th October 2020 from 10.30am. The Robert Rock Junior Golf Tour started in 2016 as a single event… After a successful event with over 50 juniors attending, the parents and juniors asked if they would consider doing more events. In October 2016 they hosted their second event at Beeston Fields Golf Club. From this came their decision to run a Junior Tour over the Midlands.
|
|
Each event has an 18 Hole Competition for all Juniors with Handicaps of 28 and less for Boys and 36 and Less for Girls. The boys play in Under 18 and Under 14 categories.
Cleobury has always had a strong junior section and see this as an ideal tour to get involved with.

Goodbye laces. Hello Boa Technology in today's golf equipment continues to amaze us year-on-year, but it's not just our clubs that are making strides in the tech department. Believe it or not, golf shoes are some of the most advanced products in the market thanks to the evolution of the Boa Fit System, which is replacing traditional laces. Not only does it fasten your shoe, but when the Boa dial is on the heel of your shoe, it pulls your foot back and down to provide the perfect fit for extreme comfort and stability out on the course. |

It's great walking to the first tee with a new driver in hand (that's been custom fitted to suit your swing, of course) that you know will help you outdrive your playing partners, but sometimes it can be a simple change to the ball that you're using that has the biggest effect on your game. |
