I might seem like a broken record at the moment but it’s a good broken record. The sun is still shining and the course is still in amazing condition, we are getting some unbelievable feedback from members and visitors. We will continue to do our best and keep it all in shape before winter arrives.
This week, we have so much to report so I will keep the introduction short and see you all at the club over the next week.

They've done it again... When a product has been the centre of a range for over a decade you know it must be pretty special, right? We certainly think so and it can be said of the Srixon AD333 golf ball, which is now into its ninth generation. How does it differ? Well, it feels amazingly soft, provides even more distance and imparts a lot of spin when around the green. It's definitely worth a go, even if we do say so ourselves. Click here to explore the range. |

Charity Day at CMGC
The annual MG Shopfronts Charity Golf Day was once again a great success with a full house enjoying the day.
Money raised from the day was split between Promise Dreams and The Steve Bull Foundation. Both charities do amazing work for the local area and local children. It was great to see so many CMGC teams playing with Ash Cook, Ad Cook, Karl Tyers and Lewis Hodges taking third place.
The full amount raised has not been announced yet but we are hopeful it will get to £8000 which shows amazing generosity from all the players. The green Srixon Bag was also won by CMGC member John Addison and picked out by Eve. |

Men’s Club Championships 2019
The 2019 Men’s Club Championships must go down as one of the best club championships in years. With fantastic weather, the course playing great and a big turn out it was inevitable that there would be plenty of excitement along the way.
In the gross competition, the clear favourite heading into the weekend was Jack Severn who many of you will have now met working in the Pro Shop. Jack didn’t have his best knock on the Saturday which gave the chasing pack a glimmer of hope heading into day two. Jack would lead by one with Kevin Tandler and Charlie Edwards just one behind and Adam Winnall and Ash Cook just two behind. On Day Two, Kevin Tandler played the first five holes in two under gross to Jack’s 1 under making it level pegging before Jack started to pull away as he got to 4 under par through 10. Jack continued to tick off the pars before finishing in style with a birdie on the last to sign for a 69 and win comfortably in the end.
In his victory speech, Jack thanked everyone for making him so welcome on his first week at work whilst also thanking Amy for all her hard work and dedication to CMGC over the last five years before she heads off to her new job in Dubai. Well played Jack.
Congratulations also to Kevin Tandler for finishing second in his first Club Championships at Cleobury and to Charlie Edwards who took third spot.
In the Nett competition there were some stand out performances on the Saturday from Gary Hingley (64), Rob Winnall (67) and Mike Wood (67), however, you got the feeling that everyone who had shot 71 or better still fancied their chances if they could get off to a quick start on the Sunday. With the Sunday been played in Nett order, the nerves and suspense would continue throughout the day as everyone battled for every shot in order to claim the top spot.
|
With the cards signed and processed Josh and Amy kept the results secret before presenting the prizes with the new incoming Captain Paul Judge. Taking 5th spot in the Nett was Ross Moorcroft with Mike Wood taking 4th spot. Overnight leader Gary Hingley had to settle for 3rd spot whilst Tom Mason shot through the field with a second day 69 to finish in 2nd spot just one short of the winner. Taking top spot and getting his name on the trophy once again was Ian’Nobby’ Gough. Ian shot a second round of 69 which included playing the last five holes in two under gross to finish level par over the two days and win by one. Well played Ian. Congratulations to all prizes winners over the weekend and for everyone who stayed around for the conclusion and presentation. We can’t wait for 2020 for more drama and funny stories.

New Club Captain - Paul Judge
If you managed to stay for the Club Championships Presentation, you will know that Paul Judge has agreed to take on the Club Captaincy. Paul (44) who has played in 32 qualifying competitions this year and has been a member for over four years, will be a very popular choice amongst the membership with his professional yet laid back approach.
We are delighted Paul has taken on the captaincy and wish him all the best for the Captains Drive-In on Sunday, 27 October when he officially takes over from Jamie Fearnley.

Nigel’s handiwork
You have all seen Nigel’s handiwork with the restoration of benches around the club. Well, he has a new project…This was taken off the oak tree that came down on the third of Deer Park. As you can see a serious amount of varnish went on the surface to keep it watertight. It is currently outside the front door until we find a home for it….
Any ideas let us know HERE. |

Before we pit these two beauties against one another, have a think about how good your bad shots are? It's a bit of an oxymoron, but are they disastrous and leading to big scores or are they less penal and still go somewhere around the green? |
Red corner - PING G410 irons If your bad shots really are bad then it's definitely worth looking at a game-improvement iron, like the G410 from PING. They've managed to optimise the weighting in the toe and hosel to increase forgiveness across the face, with the addition of COR-Eye technology powering ball speeds for impressive distance.
|
Blue corner - PING Blueprint irons Those of you who tend to strike the ball well the majority of the time should consider these Blueprint irons. It's a player's iron with a cleaner look next to the ball, and allows the better player to shape and flight the ball in whichever way they want. Both of these irons are available to try in your local pro shop today!
