Welcome to this week’s newsletter. What a bizarre week we have had, crazy high temperatures followed by rain and all sorts. The lads have been flat out, not only keeping the course in top condition but also doing extra jobs which you can read about below. Below are a couple of pictures from this week and as they show, the place is looking stunning. Plus, this picture below, is anyone claiming it?

This Saturday we have a trophy competition which can be booked online via the BRS. I will be at Thomas the Tank Land with Rafa so enjoy the company of Tom, Josh and Amy this weekend.
We hope you're having a great week on and off the golf course and enjoy this week's read. |
Emily Price
She's at it again! This week at Woburn Golf Club trying to qualify for the Women's British Open. Emily shot three-under gross which put her into a playoff for the final two places. Emily sadly missed out on the third playoff hole, leaving her in third reserve, so she still has a chance of getting in. Fingers crossed as you read this, she might be in the Women’s Open…. Crazy! |

Ladies Club Championship
The Ladies held their Club Championship over two days this year which turned out to be a great success.
Wednesday, 17 July saw round one played in brilliant sunshine with equally brilliant scores, Sue Davis came in with a gross 88, nett 70 and Liz Clewley with a very impressive gross 97, nett 65. Friday, 29 July, day two was a total contrast the weather changed but it didn't spoil Sue Davis round as she came in with a gross 91, nett 74 to win the Club Championship with an overall 179 gross.
The Nett prize went to Anne Breakwell who was just behind Liz Clewley on day one with a nett 68 and managed a nett 72 on day two to secure the Nett prize with 140 points. |

Away at Worcester Golf & CC
The friendly team played their first away game of the season against Worcester Golf & Country Club. Every match played ended in a close result but the hosts ran out overall winners 5-1 with Paul Jones and Mark Mansell being the only victorious pair for CMGC. Everyone enjoyed the course, the competition and the food afterwards.

Severn's special finish
Despite some very dodgy weather on Saturday, the scores from the weekend’s competition suggested otherwise. Nick Webb cruised to the Division Two crown with 39 points to finish three clear of Mark Broughton. Dean Sadler continued his fine form with 39 points to finish second in Division One. The day, however, belonged to Jack Severn. Jack birdied three of his final six holes to finish on 41 points and see his handicap cut to +1.

No building sandcastles
As promised the new bunker sand has landed at CMGC. The conditions have not been perfect, but Foxes Run has been fully completed along with a few on Deer Park. The bunkers are tidied up by taking out weeds etc, the existing sand is then churned up and spread around evenly this layer is compressed down and the new sand is then added on top.
|
Please remember, when raking bunkers to push the sand and not pull it back, this will cause the bare areas to appear. Also, PLEASE take the time when raking bunkers, we have plenty of rakes in them. We have invested in the sand and have plans to over the winter to improve them.

#468FCD ; text-align: left;">Get more iron in your dietIf you're looking for a new set of irons there is so much choice out there that it can become a little bit of a mine field. So, why not grab a coffee, take five and watch our latest video on why PING's i210 irons could well be the perfect addition to your bag? |
“The i210 flies a little bit higher and it does carry a little bit further because it spins a little less” Never have truer words been spoken and we love the fact that the i210 irons not only offers you that added distance but also... “the forgiveness of this club - for what is a relatively compact profile - is excellent and feels incredibly solid across the face”
So, now you've seen them, why not give them a go? Our expertise will help you through the fitting process to make sure the investment you're making in your game actually results in better scores. After all, what’s the point of getting the best set of irons if they aren’t perfectly suited to your swing?
