What a difference in just a few days! The course is looking lovely at the moment, the rain that came down actually did the course a whole world of good. The greens are quick and true and with the fairways being super lush it’s a pleasure to play out on the course at the moment and even better with a good forecast coming up. We might be able to top up our golfer’s tan once again. The lads have been flat out cutting grass and keeping the course tidy which is the way we like it. We had quite an eventful few days using the local ambulance services and the Midlands Air Ambulance. You the members do so much fundraising for the Air Ambulance and Sunday it saved a member’s life along with the defibrillator we have in the entrance. We all would like to wish members Aide Hall and Rod Mosely a speedy recovery. This Friday we are hosting a Cancer Research Charity Day that is being run by member Mark O’Brien and Dylan Edwards. Please call us to book a tee time as it is busy, if you would like to play in the day please contact me HERE.
Enjoy the rest of this week's read. |
CMGC Anniversary Monday, 1 July It's our 26th birthday on Monday so next week I will be going on a trip down memory lane with some old and new pictures. However, check out this one below, we had the drone out again and the difference is scary. |
We have a team competition on Saturday, 29 June to celebrate. It is teams of four, open to all with a Texas Scramble format. If you would like to enter a team, we have the following times left: 8.32am, 9.48am and 1.30pm Click HERE to reserve your time today. |
Longest Golf Day completed As you may have read in last week’s newsletter, myself (Josh), Matt Yarranton and our friends Donovan and Cameron took on the Longest Golf Day for Macmillan Cancer Support. We Successfully completed the 72 holes on Saturday, teeing off at 5:15am and not finishing until 10:00pm! We had a lot of laughs and some interesting shots were played throughout the day.
We would like to thank everyone who kindly donated to our team for this amazing charity. Including the online donations that were made by you guys, as well as the personal collections the four of us made, we have a total of £700, and still counting! There is still time for you to donate, either in the Pro Shop or through the link HERE. Once again, thank you all so much for your continued support.

Sunday Stableford
49 played in the Sunday Stableford which was a fantastic turnout. With such a big field it meant some nice prize money will be up for grabs. The scoring was very good with a packed leaderboard in both Division One and Two. In Division Two, Rich Dutton, Alan Hall and Clive Jordan all shot under their handicaps however they couldn’t quite catch Paul Judge who finished with 40 points. Paul has lessons with myself (Dave) and every time he does, he always rips it. Then he will play a competition and not score. Thankfully the changes are setting in and over the last month his handicap has gone from 18.9 to 16.9. Division One was also very tight James Whitehouse, Grant Carbines, Dean Sadler and Charlie Edwards all shot under their handicaps, however, Andrew Thomas finished on top with 41 points and a gross 75. This sees his handicap reduced to 7.6 showing that even lefties can play some good golf.

NEW offers in-store
We have had loads of new stock in the Pro Shop this last week. Here are the three best deals: |
FootJoy shorts
Now the weather is getting warm, these are what is needed. They match up with the trousers that many of you purchase at the start of the year. They are made of stretchy material which fits your legs offering comfort when swinging and getting the ball out of the hole. The silicon gripper waistband helps them stay in place, keeping your shirt tucked in and looking smart. |
RRP on the FootJoy website is £55 but this week we are doing a pair for £45 each or two for £80. Blue, grey (pictured) and khaki available in sizes 34”, 36”, 38” and 40” waist. |

Limited-Edition Titleist balls
The Open Championship is not far away now and Titleist has sent us some nice limited edition Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls. These have the famous Claret jug printed on the side. Only a very limited number of accounts got sent these and we are one of them. They should also be more expensive than the regular Pro V1’s, however, we are keeping them at £42 a dozen or £12.50 a sleeve. We only have eight dozen Pro V1 and four dozen Pro V1x. If you would like some putting aside please email us HERE or pop into the shop to purchase directly. Our advice, buy a dozen and put away safe, they will only go up in value.

Is there a better time than summer to be out playing golf? Silly question, really. So, now you’ve got your cap on and you’re lathered in sun lotion, it’s time to make sure the most important part of your body (arguably) is protected: your eyes. |
| Oakley Mercenary sunglasses
|
|
UV protection You don’t need us to tell you that staring straight at the sun is not the smartest idea, but these sunglasses come with UV protection to keep those harmful rays at bay.
|
Enhanced vision The best thing about the Mercenary is that it comes with Oakley's Dark Prizm lenses, which help to improve colour, contrast and detail for maximum clarity on the course.
|
Stylish look Last but by no means least, these sunnies are incredibly stylish with a modern frame and larger lens shape, meaning you'll happily wear them all day long.
|
|
Looking for something else? If the Mercenary doesn't tickle your fancy then not to worry, we have a huge collection of Oakley sunglasses available online to get delivered to store for you to pick up at your convenience - simply click on the button below to browse the range. |
