Welcome to this week’s newsletter. After a few days of rain, it’s currently 22 degrees with nice blue sky outside! This time of year, is what we call in the trade, the growing season. The lads pretty much go around in circles cutting as it starts to grow so much. It’s a great time for us golfers though with the grass really green and lush.
Enjoy It whilst it lasts.
Here are a couple of pictures from the week, my personal favourite is the beer buggy.

Remember the name!
We have been saying it for years here at CMGC, but for those who don’t know, remember the name Emily Price! Emily was a youngster at CMGC before heading to Carolina for university, and what an impressive first year she has had. Full details are below, but as it stands she is the number one ranked freshman in the USA! Unbelievable.
South Carolina women's golf standout Emily Price was named the SEC Freshman of the Year while Lois Kaye Go, along with Price, was named All-SEC, the league announced Thursday. Go was selected to the All-SEC First Team, while Price grabbed a spot on the conference's Second Team. The honour for Price is also the first Freshman of the Year honour won by a Gamecock in program history. Go, a two-time All-SEC selection, collected her first career first-team laurels. Go became the 18th player in program history to earn All-SEC accolades.

Price has emerged as one of the top freshmen in the country this season, ranking 11th in the latest Golfstat rankings. The Ludlow, England, native is the top ranked freshman in the SEC and the second-highest ranked freshman in the country.
Her best finish was at the 2019 SEC Championships where she finished in a tie for fifth, the best finish by a freshman in Carolina history at the SEC Championships. Price was able to break the single-season stroke average in Carolina history at 72.81 this season.
The rookie combined to finish six of her eight tournaments in the top-20, tied with Go for the most this season on the team. Price was also named to the SEC All-Freshman team. |

Greens get some airtime
This week we gave the greens some very deep aeration with zero damage! We had the compressed air quake machine for two days, this inserts deep tines every half a metre, the tines are then sprayed with compressed air which lifts the surface.
We have used this machine plenty of times over the years and found that the deep air encouraged a deeper root growth and better resistance to the conditions e.g. retain moisture in the summer and filter moisture in the winter. As the saying goes ‘better never stops’ we are always looking for the best here at CMGC. Here is our new greenkeeper Nigel in action with it.

Mendham leads the way
Congratulations to David Mendham who won the Aggregate Medal on Saturday. David has had a fantastic winter in non-qualifying season, yet couldn’t quite get it together with a summer card in his hands, this all changed as he cruised to a nett 66 to take top spot in Division Two and the lead in the Aggregate Medal.
Jez Duffiled pipped Jack Severn on countback in Division One, both of these players are well in form at the moment.
The three players were the only ones to shoot under their handicaps out of the field of 67 players. |

Charity Day last Friday
CMGC member John Addison did a sterling job organising a fantastic event raising money to take disabled kids on an adventure holiday.
These kids had their funding cut which meant they could not go; John however had other ideas and step up his fund-raising efforts with over £2000 was raised on the day.
Fantastic effort from all involved, especially John for organising the day.

The hottest picks this summer |
Is it just us or has this year's clothing been the best we've had in-store for a few years now? Either way, there's no doubting that you'll be looking (and feeling) great on and off the course throughout the summer with some of these fantastic picks... |
| Engineered Nailhead Jacquard polo | We all enjoy a bit of citrus in our drinks over the summer, and now you can have a splash of citrus in your golf shirt too, thanks to this brilliant option from FootJoy.
|
| Foulard Print Trim polo | If a traditional look is more your thing, then you can’t go wrong with this option. As you can see, the print trim on the inside of the button placket breathes an air of style to fill you with confidence.
|
| Jersey Chest Stripe Chill-Out pullover
| We all know how unpredictable British weather can be, so opt for this fan-favourite mid-layer of ours to keep you warm should the temperature drop whilst you're out on the course.
