Course update The sun has shone down on the greenkeepers this week so that they have been able to get out and do some much needed cutting on the course. Our fairway mower has just come back from its winter service so all the fairways have been cut, but you will notice that they have been cut a little wider than normal to help speed up play. The tees have also been cut, with the greens being cut twice and rolled.
With many questions about the greens being asked, this is what has been done to them recently. They’ve had another light top dressing last Wednesday, which was then brushed in to fill in the remaining holes, plus all 27 greens, putting and chipping green have had a spring fertiliser so should all be back to normal in the next week. The definition that all this mowing has given the course to unbelievable. Its even tempted me to dust off my clubs and get out there.

March Weekend Stableford It’s qualifier season! But that didn’t stop anyone from going out on the course this weekend. There was a great turnout of 56 gents playing over Foxes and Badgers on Saturday and Sunday. However, Saturday was when all of this weekend’s winners played! In Division Two, there was only two points in it between third, second and first place. Mark Watson settled for third place after a steady 36 points. Antony Haile made his score one point better to finish in second place with 37 points. One point better still was Keith Gardner, who came in with a very good 38 points to take top spot in Division Two. |
In Division One, there was a battle for second place as three players finished on 37 points on Saturday. Unfortunately, Chris Rigby lost on countback to finish outside of the top three. Steve Lau finished in the middle of the three on countback, to sit in third position. In the end it was Ash Cook who came out the strongest on the last few holes to win on countback and take second place.
However, once again, the PXG trooper Mr Dean Rogers came out on top of everyone else and came in with an impressive 39 points, two points clear of second place. Is anyone going to be able to beat our PXG man? |

Wednesday Roll Up is back! This Wednesday will be the first Roll Up of the season! As last week’s newsletter mentioned the difference from last year is that every other week was a qualifier, however with the new rules changes ALL Strokeplay competitions should be qualifiers if conditions permit. This means that every Wednesday Night Roll Up will be a qualifier, giving a lot more opportunities to get your handicap decreased or increased if that’s the way you want to go. You are welcome to turn up from 3:00pm onwards to enter the Roll Up - just wait for a playing partner or turn up with someone to play with, pay your money and off you go! |
Ladies Presentation Evening Wednesday, 27 March was the Ladies Presentation Evening, with the 2018 prize winners being re-awarded their trophies. The presentation was preceded by a lovely two course meal by George, Sally and Claire. Pictured are all the 2018 prize winners. |

Claire’s Cake of the Week! What’s better than drooling over a freshly baked cake? That’s right, eating a freshly baked cake!
This definitely seems to be a regular occurrence at CMGC lately with some show stopper cakes as any GBBO watchers would say coming out the kitchen. Take a look at this fantastic cake made by Claire!
This week’s cake is Mother’s Day inspired, a white chocolate cake filled with strawberry jam and topped with strawberry and cream Lindt chocolate. If you need a cake for an occasion please call Claire on 01299 271112 or email her HERE and she can talk you through her prices etc. Not only do they look good they taste great. |

Boa constrict your footwear |
There's been two major trends in the golf footwear market in recent years: the first is the surge in spikeless shoes, and the other is Boa. So, what actually is the Boa Fit System and is it anything to do with snakes? |
| FootJoy UltraFIT Boa golf shoe
|
|
No, it's nothing to do with snakes. Phew. Rather, the Boa Fit System has revolutionized footwear for the better and we absolutely love it. Instead of using traditional laces, Boa utilises a steel wire (virtually unbreakable) that is effortlessly tightened via an easy-to-use dial strategically placed on the shoe (seen above). To loosen, simply pull out the dial and open up at the tongue. |
With FootJoy's UltraFIT Boa, which is available in-store now, you will be guaranteed a comfortable fit every time safe in the knowledge that your laces will not come undone or get tangled throughout your round. If you haven’t already experienced Boa, then we implore you to come down to the store and try on this fantastic option today - no obligation. |
