Goooooooood morning from the one and only West Midlands Finest 27 hole golf course Cleobury Mortimer! The weather is currently a little moist but looking at the forecast I am hopeful it will all be gone by the weekend! As normal there is loads to talk about so sit back relax and don't get bored of reading!
Myself, Tom, Rob and Sam have all been out and about playing other courses this past week and I am not just saying this but nowhere was anywhere near CMGC. The greens are currently better than anything we collectively played which is a true testament to the team. Below was taken Sunday morning.
Team CMGC are back in the Shropshire and Hereford alliances and looking for players. The two dates we have confirmed so far are…
Thursday October 23rd - Kington golf club - PGA professional Sam Pain and amateur Tom Pain entering teams.
Monday November 3rd - South Staffs golf club - Tom Pain only at the moment.
The price is £40 per person this includes a coffee and bacon bap on arrival, 18 holes, a meal after and prizes. This are really good days out and a great price for what you get. It is strictly first come first serve to get your names down. The signup sheet can be found in the golf centre. The prizes are for best team scores and individual.
The last couple of days myself and Rob have been up in Harrogate at the annual golf trade show. This show has all the top suppliers from the golf industry in one location and gives us a sneek peak at what is coming next year. Something that we may be looking to do is bring in Bridgestone golf balls here at CMGC. I would love to know your thoughts on the matter, has anyone used them? How to they perform? Industry insiders have told us they make a superb ball and they are certainly a brand to look out for in 2015.
I also had a meeting with our buying group Foremost who have some exciting initiatives coming in 2015 along with Ecco and Mizuno joining the group, expect to see them at CMGC next year. They have also massively upgraded the online catalogue (click here to find out more.) Remember you can order products from the website and have it delivered to CMGC to collect.
I am delighted to announce that myself and CMGC have been approached by Stuburt golf to become their first ever brand ambassadors. Obviously I was delighted to accept this role, I cannot give too much away right now however a special mail will be sent next week revealing more!
The 2014/15 Stuburt winter range is now in stock and already selling like mad. The new range is really high quality but also at a very affordable price. We have put together an online catalogue for you to have a look at all the outerwear, all modelled by our very own Dave and Tom.

Get your golf up to scratch over the winter months.
Practice makes perfect for Johnson.
Another sunny weekend welcomed the members of Cleobury for the men's double roll up stableford. This event played over the weekend allows competitors to play on ether day with the overall score winning. Ian Gough recorded the lowest gross of the day on his way to 38 points however his playing partner Yoshi Oyama just pipped him with 39 points to take the lead into Sunday. The good scores continued on Sunday with 13 year old Jack Severn once again showing his immense talent and potential with 38 points to see his handicap once again tumble to 5.6. Jack a product of the fantastic youth system that Cleobury operates is certainly a name to watch out for.
The day and tournament was won by Simon Johnson who shot 40 points and take home some fantastic prizes from the Cleobury Golf Centre. With his win confirmed Simon admitted that he has had a quiet season on the golf course so decided something needed to be done. 'Monday to Friday it is difficult for me to play golf due to work commitments however I have now started going to my local driving range 3 days a week and its really paying off. My game feels great and it goes to show practicing really does help'.
Congratulations to Steve and Phil Lau who are the 2014 Doubles Knockout. The lads played some stunning golf and were 3 under gross up until the point they sealed the match against Paul and Dan Liggins.
This is the second time they have won this tournament the first been back in 2010.
A very very strong doubles partnership who will take some beating in 2015.
