Hello from Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club.
We hope you have had chance to take advantage of the fantastic weather we are currently experiencing and managed to get out on the fairways and play some great golf. With great golf in mind, let's have a quick think back to the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles and what a brilliant victory it was for Captain McGinley and his Men. After a tight opening three sessions with the score 6 ½- 5 ½ to the Europeans it was the Saturday afternoon foursomes that put the Europeans within touching distance of the trophy going in to the singles with a 10-6 lead. A final score of 16 ½- 11 ½ saw the Europeans taste victory for the eighth time in the last ten Ryder Cups. Some of our Highlights included Poulter's Chip in on the 15th in the fourballs, Garcia's approach to the 18th in the foursomes, Donaldson's winning approach shot in the singles and Patrick Reed's 'shhhhh' to the crowd in his Singles match.

A big thanks to everyone who took part in The CMGC Ryder Cup Match on Saturday 27th September. The European Team led by Tom Straughton took on the USA team led by Tom Pain. There was a great atmosphere throughout the clubhouse once the pairings were revealed and on the tee several chants of 'Europe, Europe' from Bob Lucas and 'USA, USA' from Stu Humphries got everyone motivated for their matches.
With some great golf and a few key putts dropping at just the right time for the Europeans I was often left wondering if McIlroy and Co had turned up! Ultimately home advantage proved pivotal and the Europeans managed to win 7 ½ - 2 ½.
Congratulations to Prize Winners, Andy Johnson, Dave Smith, Duncan Trow and John Westley on the Nearest the Pin Holes and John Westley and Scott Severn for the biggest winning margin. We hope everyone enjoyed the day and we (The Americans) look forward to the rematch in 2 years time!
