Well, we missed the snow and just ended up with some very cold mornings. If you look closely you can almost see the White Walkers, winter certainly showed up. |
Thankfully the forecast is now a little milder, this weekend we have a members competition on Saturday but if you’re a visitor and looking for a game our breakfast special is available midweek £24pp and weekend £27pp. Book online here or call 01299 271112.
Enjoy this week's read. |
Steve Bull Night
After all the talk, what a night it turned out to be 110 guests in the Wyre Suite welcoming the Black Country legend. Steve did his talk for over an hour telling stories and jokes from his footballing days whilst comedian Aaron James was also on top form running the night.
We did a bit of fundraising on the night with heads and tails, tombola and auction plus £11 from each ticket went directly to the charity overall on the night £4100 was raised going to the Steve Bull Foundation which is unbelievable for a Wednesday night in January.
The foundation offers Charitable support in the form of grants to organisations primarily in the Black Country and the West Midlands which specialise in assisting young people, the disabled, the homeless, the sick and the disadvantaged. We have developed a great relationship with Steve, his wife Kirsty and Jacky and have an event lined up for June which details will be released on very soon. |
On behalf of CMGC I would like to thank everyone for making the event such a huge success. |
PXG Fitting Day Our very first fitting day was a huge success with every appointment except one (the persons back went after six shots) joined the PXG Troops. As mentioned, we have some great plans in place with them this year and I am sure you will see more and more people with the clubs around CMGC on the back of the fitting days. Matt who conducted the fittings with help from Jack and Josh commented on how good it was using an actual tee to do the fittings as it helps so much with shot visualisation and seeing the differences in ball flight etc backed up with data from TrackMan. |
If you’re looking to get fitted for some PXG clubs prices start at £400 an iron, £375 a hybrid, £450 a wood and £550 a driver please get in touch HERE.
Why are PXG so good?
The main performance benefits of all PXG clubs is the forgiveness and consistency they provide to help optimise your performance. PXG have the top two engineers from PING, who have no time constraints budget and no material restrictions to create the best clubs on the market. The company are still going strong after five years because the clubs perform so well and more and more players on the tour are choosing to play with them.

Amy is back from the desert
February is here and I am back from my trip to Dubai, a crazy month with so many incredible experiences. From my last update, I was involved with the relaunch of the Claude Harmon Performance Golf Academy with Claude Harmon 3 being present, it was an absolute pleasure to meet, learn from and socialise with one of the best coaches in the world. From shadowing and working alongside Claude and the team at CH3, it’s amazing how little technique pointers they provide when coaching.
During my time there, Claude also hosted and evening discussing the players he works with, coaching techniques and technology, this gave a massive insight to the work he does alongside Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson and Rickie Fowler. As well as this we also held the launch for the new Cobra King F9 clubs with lots of golfers coming to try this out.
The Desert Classic was also on while I was in Dubai, so it was another opportunity to watch some of the World’s best and see Bryson Dechambeau lift the trophy but also see first hand his unorthodox swing and approach to golf and once again reinforce so many different approaches to the game.
My diary is updated with lesson availability on upcoming Monday’s and Friday’s as well as some Saturday spaces. If you would like to book a lesson please email amymillwardgolf@gmail.com, call 01299271112 ext.1 or please click here.

Weekend Stableford
Some cold temperatures greeted the golfers for last weekend’s Stableford. Firm greens made for tricky conditions, anything over 30 points was more that respectable. Nett Club Champion Jez Duffield took second spot with 33 points (just like his beloved Liverpool FC) but Andrew Johnson made it two wins in two weeks, also shooting 33 points but winning on countback. In Division Two, Jason Chance shot 34 points on Saturday to take second spot but lost out to Paul Judge by a single point who finished with 35 points on the Sunday.
This weekend is a Pairs Waltz competition. One score to count on odd holes and both scores to count on even holes, 9/10’s handicap. A reminder to book in for competitions via the BRS system so that tee times are not unused.

Food of the Week
Sally and Claire have once again been flat out in the kitchen with this week’s creations. Claire clearly loves M&M’s with this weeks homemade vanilla sponge, M&M spread and finished with M&M’s.
|
Sally has got her pastry on with homemade sausage rolls. She was asked to make some red onion and sweet chilli ones and they are delicious. Be quick though as they do sell out very quick. |

New shoes? Walk this way... |
Golf is first and foremost a walking sport, with many of us strolling more than five miles in a pair of shoes every single round. You might read that fact and instantly recall getting off the 18th green wanting nothing more than a sit-down, feet aching, after realising your shoes aren’t as comfortable as they ought to be. Well, if that is the case, it might well be time for a change... |
Just arrived - FootJoy Fury Arguably FootJoy's most eye-catching shoe for 2019, the Fury has been designed by Rafa Cabrera-Bello and won't disappoint when it comes to style or performance. You'll immediately notice the Fury's snug fit as soon as you put them on, with the added enjoyment of padding around the ankle. When it comes to performance, you can expect fantastic traction and stability making this the perfect all-round shoe for 2019. |
