An update to the Number 1 Ball in Golf
The Titleist ProV1 and ProV1x typically get an update on a two-year cycle. 2019 see the latest models of Titleist’s premium golf ball, probably the biggest upgrade that both the ProV1 and ProV1x benefit from is the reformulated core which result in an increase in ball speeds. Another key update to both the ProV1 and the ProV1x is a thicker inner skin and a thinner outer skin. This also helps to increase ball speeds throughout the bag. For an in-depth review and a complete run down on what’s new about the 2019 ProV1 and ProV1x take a look at this video from National Club Golfer here.

Johnson brothers prevail
Last week in the 18-hole Stableford Ian Gough took home top spot with 42 points, this week it was a Pairs competition with the best stableford score on each hole and both to count on par 3’s. It was great to see such a strong entry once again with 56 playing, the scoring was very tight with a bunched up leaderboard. Chris Rigby and Rob Corbett thought they done enough with 54 points, it wasn’t until they realised it was 9/10 handicap, they finished on 50 points but got pipped on countback to third place. The day however belonged to Simon and Andy Johnson who finished with the same score of 50 points as Ken Lewis and David Punsheon, both pairs had 24 points on the back nine but over the back six holes the Johnson brothers got one more point to seal top spot. |

Menu specials
Claire and Sally have been very busy in the kitchen this last week, Sally’s sausage rolls keep selling out, she makes just 12 at a time so be quick to snap one up. She uses sausage meat from The Wyre Pie Company to give them that quality finish. This week we also have hot roast beef bap with homemade Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, beef gravy and horseradish sauce on the side. Pop into the club to sample some of these, everyone is welcome.

Upstairs project
First it was the new doors in the Pro Shop, entrance and match room, now next time you walk in through the main entrance look up. You might notice a nice glass balcony with stainless steal front, we have also up graded the lighting system and gone for a minimalistic, spacious and well lit look as you enter CMGC. The upstairs renovation began when Mark was having a lesson in the studio, the Steve Bull night on Wednesday 30th January had sold 90 tickets in just over a week and we were chatting about space. In true grand designs style, we looked to increase the capacity of upstairs, we were up into the loft space to find the dance floor area was an extension and just a wall, a nice bit of steel would support a partisan. An architect and structural engineer were hired, and we got to work. When we measured the extra space that would be generated it was over a third of the main room so huge gains, most importantly the view you will get is fantastic, you wont feel segregated etc. The wall was knocked out, steel beam added, re plastered and skimmed, mirrors added and polished (polishing done by CMGC member Mark Watson), the glass divide added, LED lights installed and re-painted. We have also added to extra radiators to keep it nice and toasty. This was all done and complete in just nine days. |
Next up will be the flooring and bar, watch this space. All the work has been done by MG Shopfronts, if you’re after doors, garage doors, anything glass or mirrored we cannot recommend Mark and his team highly enough. They offer fantastic prices and most importantly can work to strict deadlines.

The best keeps getting better |
Titleist is a brand which is synonymous with excellence, with the iconic Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls proving a huge success for almost two decades now. So, rather than wholesale changes to an already brilliant offering, the brand has made some subtle - yet significant - improvements for 2019, including a high optic yellow colour option! |
