Hello from West Midlands Finest! It has been another bumper week with the course very busy and of course playing really well. We now turn our attention to the United Kingdoms Scotland (nearly had to edit that) and the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles. All of us here at CMGC cannot wait for it to get started and expect it to be a little tighter that what everyone if predicting! We have had loads going on and this continues into next week as Ryder Cup fever gets even higher!
A little misty on Saturday could the same happen at Gleneagles and we see fog delays? Nothing stops our greenkeepers getting the job done though!

John Lacey Texas Scramble Report.
32 teams of four were out in force at Cleobury Mortimer golf club to support the John Lacey Memorial open. For those who did not know, John was a former captain of the club and a linchpin in the early days getting the club on its feet. John however sadly died and this competition was put on in his memory.
Some fantastic scores were posted with Josh Carpenter, Dave Leach, Craig Shorter and Mikey Jacks posting a nett 55 which many thought would win. Rob Barnes led his team to the same score but missed out on count back whilst 57 nett would have got you in the prizes.
A special mention must also go to Kev Mantle who aced the 5th of Deer Park to get his first ever hole in one and win nearest the pin.
The day however belonged to some familiar faces, Jack Pringle who made the trip up from London just for the event along with his Dad Ian, club captain Gary Hawes and Neil Bryden shot a nett 54.4 to sneak first place and take home the trophy.
Captain Gary accepted the trophy and had this to say 'John was a great bloke, me and my team are honored to win this in his memory. We had a great knock and held some important putts. The course was in brilliant condition and thank you to everyone for supporting the event'.

Kev Mantle hole in 1
A huge well done to Kev Mantle who had a hole in one on Saturday in the John Lacey memorial Texas scramble. This was made even sweeter as there was a nearest the pin on that hole which of course he won.
As Kev is a member and this is a members competition he was insured through the golf club to cover his bar tab. A big thank you to our insurance providers NFU Mutual and the Ludlow branch for doing such a great job and supporting us.
Kev Added 'yes big thank you to the insurance provider could of been an expensive day!!! And thanks to all at Cleobury for another brilliant event. Made an otherwise difficult season very special for me'.

A message from Rob.
"I am delighted to be joining Cleobury and I feel it is very important myself and Sam meet as many of you as possible. The lesson promotion is giving a little something back to the membership and we cannot wait to get started and get you all playing better golf. Cleobury is a fantastic set up with the 27 holes and lodges onsite making it always a busy and vibrant place. We firmly believe there is massive potential to grow the coaching locally and make Cleobury the one stop destination for coaching, custom fitting and of course golf."
