Another Advent Calendar chocolate down and so far, no one has stolen any from each other. I did see somewhere though that you should start at number 24 and work down, like a countdown to Christmas, this is for sure something I hadn’t considered. Anyway, back to golf and CMGC is doing great, we have a busy week ahead with the Christmas Open Friday and the Christmas Party Saturday night.
A quick reminder that golf buggies are assessed on a morning basis so if you need one please call before you head over. Enjoy the rest of this week’s read!

Winter Series
Our latest round of the Winter Series took us to the Cleeve Hills in Cheltenham, this course is as close to an inland links as you will find. Driving up the conditions were horrendous however when we got up the hill the weather was great, as we got through the 18 holes we had sun, rain, fog, darkness which made the whole day a lot of fun.
Josh’s team used their length off the tee really well and carded 85 points compared to Dave’s team who had 72. However, Tom’s team with Martin, Ken and Clive finished very strongly to just pip them on 87 points. Watch the video below to see how variable the conditions were.

On Thursday, 13 December we are at Kington and need two more players. If you would like to play please contact us HERE. |
Turkey Trot The swapping of old formats and bringing in some new ones seem to be working at CMGC with 59 playing in the Turkey Trot, this was a record number for a December competition. The format on the day was pairs betterball with both scores counting on par 3’s, this meant 46 was level with many speculating a good score everyone agreed was a target of 50 would be a good result.
David Mendham and Paul Judge came in with 50 points which was leading for the first two hours, Jez and Tram then overtook them with 51, however Ralph Puncheon and Bob Barlow took top spot from them with 51 also with a better back count. The lead didn’t last for long with the last group out in almost darkness finishing on 52 points, Martin Bower and his Father in Law Dave Booton kept their relationship in tack with a blinding performance. Well done to all who entered.

This weekend was supposed to be a Foursomes competition, however with many not keen we have changed it to a Pairs Waltz. The format is one score to count on the first, two to count on the second, one on the third and so on. Hopefully you can all enter on Saturday. |
Mixed Winter League
Another fantastic turnout with 24 players in total, battling it out to take the honours. Sharon Liggins won nearest the pin for the ladies and Mr Wonderful, (Rob Pinner), winning the men's nearest the pin. The winning team for the day was Liz Clewley, Lynne Pinner, Adrian Nash and Ian Pringle. Some could not make the golf but joined us for the roast turkey dinner afterwards, it was delicious. The next round will be on Sunday, 13 January 2019. If you would like to join the Mixed Winter League call 01299 271112 or click HERE. |
Claire's Cake of the Week

If you had to describe your iron play in one word, what would it be? Pin-seeker? Average? Inconsistent? Regardless of how your irons were this year, 2019 brings about a new season so there's no better time to start working on your game - there's always room for improvement. |
One way to do this is by getting custom fitted for Titleist's AP1 and AP3 irons. These clubs boast some outstanding technology to help you make more greens in regulation. The AP1 is Titleist's Ultimate Game Improvement iron, offering a higher launch and great forgiveness so every shot you hit is closer to your target. Combine this with AP3 in your long irons for distance where you need it most, and you have the perfect set for 2019. |
