Hello one and all, another week passes us by, the weather is still fantastic and the course looks stunning as the pictures below show. This week we have a ton to report, the greenkeepers have been building bridges on Foxes Run, lining ponds, and reliving compaction on fairways this along with their normal duties of cutting and getting the course prepped. Don’t forget to book in nice and early as the shorter days mean we have less tee times available. Click here to book. |
Coloured balls
With the frosty mornings happening on a regular basis it makes seeing a white ball quite difficult. We have teamed up with our friends at Titleist to offer a coloured ball deal.
This year they have released an orange and pink ball to their line-up, these do not have a matte finish and feel like a white ball.
The Titleist coloured ball offers fantastic distance (perfect for the cold mornings) and also a lovely feel off the clubface. Sold as £2.50 each or 5 for £10. |

World class cake
Our Chef Claire Wilson has settled into CMGC life really well, a new winter menu is on the way from the team. The Christmas party is already over half full and the lunch trade is getting busier. Remember you don’t have to be a member to come to the bar for food and drink, I have tasted the winter menu and it’s fantastic.
Claire however has been doing a cake of the week which does not last long as you can tell from the picture! Check out the Halloween version, get in quick before it goes. As my body shape shows I eat a lot of cake and this is world class.

Mark reaches his goal
Congratulations to Mark Greenfield who in freezing conditions on Saturday shot a very impressive 40 points to win the competition, his nearest challenger was Steve Evans who finished with 36 points. In Division One John Swithenby won with 34 points to highlight just how tough the conditions were.
At the start of the year Mark was off a handicap of 20 and this score gets him down to 15.5. Mark was always a slicer of the ball but over the winter we worked really hard in the studio rebuilding it to hit a draw. He then invested in a new set of TaylorMade clubs to fit his new swing and has not looked back with average drives now at 240 yards compared to 195 in January.
Well played Mark and great work put in this season.

Captains Drive In
The clocks have changed, the new Captains have drove in and the trophies of the year were presented all on a standard Captains Drive In event. You could sense the nerves in the air from all the Captains (Jamie, Anne, Mike and Rosanna), taking their first tee shot in front of 90 odd people. In fairness their all did a great job and managed their nerves well. As always, we did a guess the combined yardage of all the Captains with their total being 565 yards. Andy Roberts guessed the exact yardage!
As always, Captains Drive In is a shotgun start, we had 96 people playing which showed fantastic support for all the Captains, and involved a fun format of Texas Scramble. With the majority of the scores in the low 60’s we thought we had a winning score from the team of Peter Holyoake, Graham Bailey, Phil Lau and Roger Bartlett with a score of 59.5.
However, the last card in took the top spot with a score of 58.4 and that was from the team off Dave Mendham, George Blakeway, Tim Whitehouse and Stuart Flello. In the Mixed team results, we had a lot of scores around the same mark, with a score of 60.6 the team of Janet Ludford, Barry Farr, Jack Severn and Paul Francis took the honours.
Club Captain has sent a few words which can be read HERE.

| 1st Team Overall - Dave Mendham, George Blakeway, Tim Whitehouse and Stuart Flello - 58.4
1st Mixed Team - Janet Ludford, Barry Farr, Jack Severn and Paul Francis - 60.6

Winter is coming, but we know that won't prevent you avid golfers getting out on the course to face biting winds, muddy shoes and, most of all, rain. Lots and lots of rain. With this in mind, it's more important than ever to have a golf bag which will keep your clubs and belongings dry during a downpour. |
Introducing Titleist's StaDry Deluxe This is where a cart bag like the StaDry Deluxe comes into play. You'll certainly be keeping your valuables dry if you opted to upgrade your golf bag to this offering over the winter thanks to Titleist’s StaDry waterproof technology, which ensures maximum coverage from the rain during your round. Weighing in at 2.9 kgs, it's also incredibly lightweight, making it easy to lift to and from the car boot to your trolley.
