Hello one and all, football didn’t come home but thankfully the sun is still shining down on us here at CMGC. As always we have loads to report covering all aspects of the club. |
Staying Green. The lads are doing a great job keeping the greens, well green! When you consider how brown some of the fairways etc. are, to be able to hold a ball on the green is a great effort. The irrigation system is going on at 5pm and finishing it cycle at 7am, plus in the day time the lads are hand watering areas that are showing dry patch with an added wetting agent. Each green is getting approximately 1000 gallons of water or 3,800 litres and tees about half that. We have had no rain since 11th May, the Pro Am Day! Check out this video of how good the greens are looking. |

Tree Work Leon and Kieran have been busy with some tree work on Badgers Sett this week. They have raised the canopy on the trees in areas on the 3rd, 4th and 5th on Badgers. Jobs such as these can sometimes be difficult to get to but with the recent dry weather it has given them the chance to carry out this work and I'm sure when you are next out playing you'll see what a great job they have done. Pictured here is what they were up to. Remember if you’re in a pile of brash, it’s a free drop and if you’re in wood chip you simply play it as it lies.

Mawley Milk Cup Another week, another trophy competition. This time it was for the Mawley Milk Cup played over Foxes Run and Badgers Sett in medal format. Bryan Colley thought he had it wrapped up, but an 8 on the last hole gave him a nett 67 which was enough to finish second in Division One just behind Dave Shorter on countback. Harry King, who plays off 15 has the driving ability of a professional and the short game of a beginner, got it all together with a sublime gross 40 on the back nine to get himself a nett 66. This was winning all day until the last group. John Gittins who we all know can make birdies for fun but also triples shot a nett 62 to take the trophy. John had this to say “Off my handicap in medal play I was just trying to make bogeys and hit greens in regulation. I will always make a few pars, but keeping the big score off the card has always been my problem. Thankfully today everything fell into place.” A special shout out to John Gallagher… pays £5 to enter, tees up a new £4 ball. Hits it slightly right, looses it and makes a no return after one shot on the first hole!

If you haven’t used a push trolley for a while then it’s definitely worth trying one in the not too distant future. In years gone by they were made of metal and were heavy to use, but that couldn’t be further from the truth with today’s lightweight options. |
Nice and easy This BIG MAX IQ+ 360 push trolley is a great option and tips the scales at just 6.3kg, which makes it effortlessly easy to push so you remain full of energy to the end of your round. As well as its lightweight frame, it boasts a 360-degree front wheel so you can steer it to any spot with ease (watch our video to see for yourself), plus a handbrake and a spacious console that has room for all of your valuables and accessories. If the white frame in this photo isn't to your liking, the IQ+ 360 is also available in black as well as black and red. |
