Another warm and sunny week flies by here at CMGC, unfortunately England didn’t quite make it to the final in the World Cup but we can now look forward to The Open starting at Carnoustie in a weeks time. The course is playing firm and fast at the moment although we may get a bit of rain on Friday this week. Hopefully we’ll see plenty of you over the next few days for a game whilst we quickly run through some of the events from the last week.

Rainbow Cancer Care Foundation Day The English sunshine shone down on CMGC for the annual 10th Anniversary of the Rainbow Cancer Care Foundation day hosted by Ange and John Gaskell. Each year gets better and better with more people getting involved and more money being raised each year. This year we had over 170 players taking part, in some extremely warm but lovely conditions. Ange and her team welcomed everyone on the check in desk and fed them at the halfway house with some delicious cakes! We had the one and only Dave Moore tee announcing and John Gaskell was our official photographer on the first tee! Amy and Josh took it in turns to do Beat the Pro, taking on Wolves legend Steve Bull. There were lots of winners for lots of different prizes and an amazing auction and raffle to help raise more money for some amazing charities.
As always the day was a great success with lots of money being raised for some amazing courses. We will keep you posted on the amount officially raised. |

Men’s Lloyds Cup
With England playing in the World Cup quarter finals in the afternoon, the course was very busy with everyone trying to get their golf in by lunchtime. The gents were playing for the Men’s Lloyds Cup and it seemed as though 39 points was a very popular score to shoot on Saturday.
|
Stu Humphries, who seems to be playing great these past few weeks, shot 39 points but a bogey on the last meant that he was beaten to first place in Division 1.
It was Gary Hingley who stayed very steady on the back 9 to finish on 39 points and win on countback.
It was the same story in Division 2. Mike Wood scored 39 points but again had to settle for second place. This weekend it was Mark Watson who finished in top spot in Division 2 with, guess what, 39 points.
However, Mark had a better score on the last 3 holes against Gary which resulted in him being the winner of the Lloyds Cup. Well done Mark.

Playing golf in the sunshine is something we all love, but it does have its downsides when bright light compromises your view. This is why Oakley offers such a great range of eye-catching, golf-specific sunglasses to help your game. |
Don't put up with squinting Trying to track a drive into low sun is just one problem summer golf can create. It also becomes more difficult to pick an aiming point and to read greens when bright light disguises subtle contours. One eyewear option we love thanks to its cool frame style you can wear off-course is the Oakley Targetline (pictured here). It comes with the option of Prizm golf lenses that enhance clarity and maximise contrast to give you better depth perception and make slopes easier to spot, as displayed in the image above. |
