Good day golfers and friends of CMGC. It has been a very busy week in the golf world with Rory dominating, Tiger injured and Dustin addicted to a class a drug, never a dull moment! Once again the weather has been great the past week with a few heavy showers but mostly sunshine and warm spells. The heavy rain actually really helps the course getting it nice and green, keeping the grass growing and a consistent rate we just all prefer when it comes down at night time and not when we are out on the course! The course has continued to improve with it still looking in tip top shape I can fully recommend it as I'm now playing most evenings, if you would ever like to join me for 9 holes please get in touch and lets get it arranged!
Don't forget next Saturday is presidents day so make sure you get your name down for that, the club championship draw is now up in the golf centre. We are also at the local Far Forrest show this Sunday, if you are one of the thousand attending please come by and say hello to us on our stand.
The 9th of badgers looking great in the sun.
Emily Price, What a Huge Talent
The big story coming out of CMGC is that our talented junior girl has continued to show her talent at a national level…. Winner what is talked about below is the equivalent of winning a major at this level!
Talk about stepping up! CMGC's Emily Price birdies the last to take the English girls under 15 national championship, plus she was 6 shots off with just 9 holes to go.
Just so you know this kid has huge talent and has a massive future ahead of her, just look at her score 9 under gross!!! Full report below.
Emily Price won the English girls' open U15 championship at Copt Heath in a final-hole drama.
She was trailing by two shots as she stood on the 18th tee. But she birdied the final hole of the tournament to finish on nine-under par. Meanwhile her rival, Lancashire's Hollie Muse, took a triple bogey and completed the event in seven-under.
It completed an astonishing fight back for Emily, who was six shots off the pace with nine holes to play. But, undeterred, she played the inward half in four-under par, while Hollie was four over.
"I just had to keep my foot on the gas. I know it's not over till the last ball drops on the 18th hole," said Emily, 14, from Cleobury Mortimer.
"I got one birdie, then another, and that got my momentum going and it all came good for me. I didn't fold under the pressure, I held it all together and came up with the result.
"It means a lot to me. Last year I came fourth and I have practised so hard to get this, it's unbelievable."
Both girls played remarkable golf during the final day. Emily was eight-under for the final 36 holes, while Hollie was six-under, having completed this morning's round in 68.
Texas Scramble Results
The men's August Texas scramble was a tale of two halves with some awful weather for the morning players and sunshine for the late starters. The tough conditions made it difficult for everyone apart from one team who made a mockery of the rain and wind with a birdie fest.
The first team out of Josh Carpenter, Craig Shorter, Mike Jacks and Tom Wright had the worst of the weather but cheers could be heard from the patio bar as birdie after birdie rolled in to see the lads home in style.
