Dubai Completed It is fair to say that my trip to Dubai was the most amazing experience of my life. My last week there definitely finished on a high! As I mentioned in the previous newsletter I had completed my 3rd week by watching the golf in Abu Dhabi which was awesome, and as the European tour moved onto Dubai I would head down to watch the opening round on Thursday! Monday and Tuesday were my last 2 days at The Butch Harmon School where I continued my usual jobs of observing and coaching Juniors. It was a sad couple of days saying goodbye to all the staff and students! Wednesday was a lovely chilled day at the beach attempting to tan my very pale skin and Thursday I headed over to Emirates Golf Club to watch The Dubai Desert Classic! Emirates is one of my favourite courses in Dubai and it was great to watch a European Tour Event around there. I started the day swapping between watching the group of Rory, Garcia & Stenson and Fleetwood’s group, and then I waited behind the 7th green (a par 3) to watch numerous groups come through, like Els, Westwood, Poulter etc. As everyone from the morning was heading in (they started on the back 9 first), I headed in to get some autographs and hopefully meet some of the players. After meeting Fleetwood and his caddie at the school, I managed to get his autograph and was impressed that his caddie Ian remembered me! I also managed to get Ernie Els, Sergio Garcia, Ian Poulter, Rory Mcilroy, Thomas Pieters and Henrik Stenson’s autographs and a photo with Stenson! |
