Greenkeeping Work With frozen conditions on Monday and rain on Tuesday the greenkeeping team were able to make a start on some tree removal and thinning projects on the advice we received from the experts at STRI. The team started on the 2nd hole on Badgers Sett, which sees light restricted to the right hand side of the green. With more light and air now reaching these areas we can expect better playing surfaces and quicker recovery from what is both a popular spot for miss hit tee shots and also high traffic areas for next season The team then made a start on the 8th hole on Badgers Sett with the plantation to the right hand side of the fairway. This area had become too densely populated and needed managing in order to create age and species diversity, as well as ensuring the ecology was not damaged. When conditions allow, the team will also hire a stump grinder to complete the work, but in the mean time should your ball finish next to a tree stump or pile of logs please treat it as GUR. As mentioned last week, we may close 9 holes at a time whilst this work is going on, so if you plan on playing, especially between 9am and 10.30am then please book a tee time as these times can and do get busy. |
