Hello one and all,

Welcome once again to the latest goings on here at CMGC. After all the rain we had last week we are pleased to see the drainage work we have recently added working well and that golf buggies are currently back on. Please note though that if you have planned to play with a buggy, their use is being assessed on a daily basis so please give us a call to check availability.

In this week’s newsletter we are dipping our toes into some winter planning. Whether it is shoes or golfing plans, sit back relax and enjoy this week's gossip.

Preferred Lies

We have started placing on closely mown areas and mark, clean and place when a ball is embedded in the rough. The competitions will remain qualifiers until rake and place comes in.

Triple Dutch

Talking of competitions, Triple Dutch on Sunday 15th October is not far from filling up and we have just 7 places left. This will be a great event to end the season on. Entry is just £5 and includes food, over £1000 worth of and of course some booze.

Calling all Society Golfers!

We are now taking bookings for the week after Christmas. With Christmas falling on a Monday that means there is loads of time for golf! The prime dates will be Wednesday 27th, Thursday 28th and Friday 29th.

If you are looking for a venue for a Christmas game CMGC is ideal. We never close and are always on full greens. Group discounts are available.

Singles Matchplay Championship comes to a close

A big well done to Ian Juckes who is the 2017 Singles Matchplay Champion. Ian took on Lee Glasby in the final last Friday and played steady from the start to take home the trophy. Ian has worked really hard on his game over the last 12 months and is a worthy winner.

Ian had this to say:

“I just played very safe today and tried not to give any holes away, Lee is a great player and competitor and fortunately it was my day today. Obviously I'm delighted with the win and look forward to defending the title in 2018.”

Night Golf is Back

Our Night golf at CMGC is always a big hit and has already generated a lot of interest. Last year 62 played therefore John and Ange Gaskell are organising it once again. It is on Friday 27th October with a shot gun start at 7.30pm. All equipment is supplied, so the only thing you need to bring is your clubs.

Love.Golf is different from traditional coaching because Love.Golf allows people to try it first before any instruction is given, discovering what works best for them. The results are actually incredible and was amazing to see so many people enjoying the game!

Syngenta’s employees are from all over the world, so it was amazing to be able to interact with a complete range of people all from different countries listening to them swap from one language to another. Something I found fascinating considering I was just talking to them in English! I will definitely be attempting to learn a new language soon!

One of Syngenta’s ambassadors is Carin Koch, the 2015 European Solheim Cup Captain, we had the pleasure of meeting and also working alongside!

Overall it was an amazing opportunity that I was thrilled to be a part of and it was great to work closely with 3 other Love.Golf Coaches!

Dave’s Lessons

Jeepers what a season it has been, I hope you have all enjoyed playing CMGC and having lessons off myself and Amy this year. As the darker nights start to come and it gets colder outside, the golf swing studio becomes busy. We are both in the middle of finalising some exciting new winter lesson packages and upgrading the software we use. Look out for the new prices and new marketing material from myself around the club very shortly.

The winter improvement packages will be released November 1st, but in the meantime if you would like any lessons check out my website by clicking here for the new prices etc.

Seniors Coffee Mornings Return!

A new batch of Seniors Coffee Mornings will be starting on the Wednesday 1st November!

After a high demand for more to start, a 7 week course will begin covering all areas with an added session on Awkward Lies!

The dates are as follows:

• Wednesday 1st November – Putting
• Wednesday 8th November – Chipping
• Wednesday 15th November –Bunkers
• Wednesday 22nd November – Pitching
• Wednesday 29th November – Long Game
• Wednesday 6th December – Awkward Lies
• Wednesday 13th December – Course Management

As always, the sessions will begin at 10:30am and run for an hour till 11:30am with coffee and a piece of homemade cake afterwards! The cost will be £6 per session or you can do all 7 for £35!

Please note these are open to non-members also and a great way to meet new people in the local area. Spaces filling fast!
