Good day golfers and friends of CMGC, it has been another bumper week here with the course packed, weddings, fund raising and a new course record set. It is sometimes hard to cram everything into a short newsletter, pretty sure there is no other golf club around that has so much going on for members and visitors to engage in. Don't forget this Saturday it is the Seve foundation Stableford where we remember the legend and raise some cash for his foundation. Below is what will greet you on the first tee!
Course record broken in the weekend roll up!
Another competitive field graced the CMGC fairways over the weekend and once again it took some great golf to top the leader board. Stu Humphries armed with a new set of clubs and Spike Broad fresh off a series of lessons with Head Coach Phil Moore posted 37 points to move up the leader board, before form player Scott Severn posted 40 points straight after his Driver Clinic with Phil which surprisingly only managed to seal him third place. Narrowly missing out on top spot on count back was Josh Rowbotham with 41 points, who has seen his handicap tumble over the last few months and is knocking at the door for a scratch team call up. The weekend however belonged to Josh Carpenter who not only won the competition but also shot a new course record over the Deer Park and Foxes Run loop. Josh fired a 5 under gross 64 to seal 41 points and now holds two course records and with a long summer ahead we wouldn't be surprised to see Josh hold all 3-course records before too long.
Footy scratch card winner - Andy Johnson who picked Barcelona
Nearest the pin winners - John Brazier and Josh Rowbotham
Ladies Results
The Ladies Iron Lady competition was won by
1st Nina Foord 30pts
2nd Sian Hawes 27pts
The July Stableford was won by
Ros Harrop 30pts, Nina Foord 30pts on count back, Jenny Dorrell 28pts
Wednesday evening roll ups
These have been going really well so far with an average of 30 players each week taking part. The concept is simply roll up to CMGC from 4pm onwards, pay £2 entry and play nine holes and have a couple of social beers in the bar after. A great way to meet other members and have a bit of fun at the same time. Prizes in the roll up for best scores, nearest the pin and 2's sweep. Hope to see some newbie's entering and get the numbers up to an average of 40.
Eco Lodges For Sale
Last weekend was the first proper open day for the eco lodge development site we ended up showing a total of 38 people around the lodge and the feedback was fantastic. The two keys points that kept cropping up were how nice and high end they were inside and the atmosphere and good feeling around the site. We will continue with the open weekends and marketing over the coming weeks. If you are interested in a viewing please call or email us on 01299271112 graham@cleoburygolfclub.com or visit www.cleoburycountrylodges.com
We are heavily featured in this month's National Club Golfer magazine (copies can be picked up in the golf centre).
Please spread the word and help us into the next era of CMGC.
CMGC Weddings and party bookings.
We have seen a massive surge in wedding and party bookings over the last 8 weeks due to word spreading about how good of a venue CMGC is. The Wyre Suite overlooks the 9th of deer park has a large patio, onsite parking and you are free to decorate the room as you wish. There a certainly no place in Cleobury that can offer this and not many in the local area.
The staff at CMGC have a can do attitude and put menus and parties together for a truly bespoke occasion. The fantastic feedback from the wedding of the new Mr and Mrs Colgan over the weekend certainly brings it home.
"Thank you so much for an amazing day. Couldn't have possibly asked for better staff, food and venue you were all amazing. Love the new Mr & Mrs."
Please get in touch with Rose on rose@cleoburygolfclub.com to enquire for any function you may require.
Doing our bit for charity
Last Wednesday we had the George Hotel of Bewdley charity golf day here at CMGC. This is the second year they have come to CMGC, It was a fantastic day and they have raised a lot of money for the Clic Sargent charity (they help children with cancer). They have already pencilled in a date for 2015 and we hope to continue raising money together for years to come.
