Men’s Texas AM Invitation
Last weekend’s competition will be one we won’t forget for a while with the weather throwing a major curveball!
A packed field headed out on Saturday Morning for the Men’s Texas Am Invitation with CMGC’s very own weatherman, Phil Styles predicting thunder storms would surround CMGC at exactly 11am. Phil was correct with his weather forecast and Dave and Graham headed out to get everyone into the Clubhouse to wait till it passed over. Eventually after around 30mins the storm passed and play was resumed! During the stop of play, chatter dictated that there were some extremely good rounds on the cards, with teams scoring in the 50’s for the front nine. The first group out, Paul Judge and Co, shot an impressive 99 points, which was later, matched by a few other teams, but it was the team of Ash Cook, Adam Cook, Matt Fairman & Lewis Hodges who would dominate the field shooting an incredible 108points; 54 front nine and 54 back nine. This score wouldn’t be beaten, but the team of Martin Bower, Charlie Edwards, Dave Balmer & Dave Shorter did get close shooting 104 points. The nearest the pins were won by Ian Davies and Steve Lau.
Amy Millward, Golf Professional had this to say; “Although not normal August weather, the scores that were shot showed that some great golf was played! Well done to everyone that battled through the weather!”
