Show lodge now available for viewing
This week marks one of the most important days in CMGC history and it is fantastic for this to happen so close to our anniversary and 21st birthday. The Cleobury Country Lodges site is now fully open and the show lodge is now available for viewings. Please call us on 01299 271 112 or email graham@cleoburygolfclub.com to arrange a specific time or feel free to pop up the club and myself or another staff member can show you around.
The base price for a lodge is £140,000 and a deposit of £2000 is required to reserve the plot you require. The first phase has views down towards the ninth of Foxes Run and optimum locations for sunlight. They can of course be used as a potential lucrative investment with the opportunity to let the lodge out.
This is a very unique opportunity to buy a second home on CMGC with planning permission given for 19 lodges over a five year project period the availability is very limited. You will honestly not believe how spacious they are and of course they are built and furnished to the highest standard. The weather has been so good the past week and the comments coming from golfers is that the greens are the best they have ever seen them in the 21 years CMGC has been open. They are firm, quick and most importantly roll true. The irrigation system is now fully operational and goes on at 8.45pm and finishes at 6am. Greenkeeper Ant has been busy adding a wetting agent to the greens, this is applied by hand and helps the root zone retain water and stop the greens from drying out.
CMGC member and local painter and decorator Aaron Booton, has also been busy working on our conservatory. Aaron is freshening up the exterior to get it looking better than ever. . If you are impressed with his work feel free to contact him or have a chat with him. We all know how difficult it is in this day and age to find good tradesman, CMGC would certainly recommend Aaron.

Another busy week for myself with 30 hours of individual coaching and 36 holes with various members all crammed into this past week. I try to put my heart and soul into my coaching and love seeing my pupils getting great results and seeing their handicap tumble. This week I received the following email and it certainly put a smile on my face.
"Phil, I went round in 91 today which is probably my best ever. I won my knockout match 8 and 7! The first 9 took only 43 but we were called through on the back nine and I went to pieces on 5,6,7 on Foxes, and scored 48! I have submitted my card for a handicap reduction, so fingers crossed. Thank you for your help during my lessons, excellent."

Captains Weekend 2014
Cleobury Mortimer golf club captain Gary Hawes was given his best ever captain's weekend in his final year as captain. The weather was glorious for the weekend and the members of CMGC were out in force to support their captain.
The seniors competition on the Friday was a closely fought affair with Roy Clifford and Yoshi taking third and second place. However it was captain Gary who won with a great score of 39 points.
The junior competition was played over nine holes and that was won by Harry King who shot 19 points. The ladies competition was also closely contested with Marj Hughes shooting 30 points, however Pam Wright managed to just take top spot with 32 points.
The main competition that everyone wanted however was the Captains Cup and one of the four Cleobury majors. A bumper field made the most of the stunning sunshine and fast greens and some fantastic scores were returned. Chris Hawks continued his fine form with a nett 68 to take third place. The top two however was a close family battle between father Scott Severn and his 13 year old son Jack.
Scott had a one shot lead going down the final hole however after missing the green with his second shot and finding the bunker Scott could only manage a 6. Jack held his nerve to make a par 4, giving a two shot swing and handing the captains cup to Jack.
A great achievement from Jack who was defending the cup having won it in 2013. This great score has now seen Jack's handicap cut to 8, for a 13 year old to be this low playing this kind of golf is fantastic. Another bright prospect coming through the youth system here at CMGC.

Anniversary Texas Scramble This Saturday!
On July 1st CMGC celebrates its 21st birthday, therefore next Saturday June 28th we have our anniversary Texas Scramble in conjunction with Titleist.
Members are welcome to bring visitors however each team must have a minimum of two members in each team.
It is £5 for members and £20 for visitors, there will be various spot prizes on the day and prizes for the top 3 teams.
We will also be running a Par 3 challenge sponsored by Titleist, it is £5 to enter and you get a £5 voucher, simply hit the green and you get another £5 voucher… A no loose situation, the only small print is that the voucher is spent on Titleist product out of the shop.
