Hello one and all, I do hope you have had a good week.
As we approach the half way point of the year, I feel it is the right time for a bit of reflection. How is your golf going, are you playing enough, are you practicing enough? If not try and make some time, even if it's just 20 minutes on our short game area. The set up and course condition is very good at the moment, you will be kicking yourself if you don't take advantage.
A big congratulations goes to Paul Francis who won the roll up on the weekend with 41 points. Paul has a lesson booked with Dave today, not quite sure how he can be improved, but will give it a go!
Remember last week our Mates Rate Membership drive started?
It has certainly inspired, with 3 full and 1 five day members signed up by CMGC members.

US Open Tips!
It is so hard to pick a winner at the moment with no one really showing form, but here are our predictions.
Amy' Picks
Henrik Stenson to win 30/1 - One of the best swings on tour and knows what it takes to win a major. He has had a quiet 2017 so far, but that will change in Memphis.
Alex Noren each way 60/1 - Coming from nowhere to win at Wentworth and he is very consistent.
Dave's Picks
DJ to win 8/1 - This course is all about driving and he is so long off the tee. I am assuming he is renting a bungalow after the Masters stairs fall, should be well in the mix!
Danny Willet each way 250/1 - Showing no form what so ever and will therefore be a big price. He has had time off to work on his game, The US Open will be the perfect tournament to get back to form.
Justin Rose 25/1 - Went close at The Masters and is a big game player, I would expect him to be challenging come the back 9 on Sunday. Hits it a long way and if he can find some form on the greens, he could easily clinch his second US Open.
Rory McIlroy 12/1 - An obvious choice and won't make you a fortune if you like to have a little flutter, but it's Rory McIlroy! He is arguably the best driver of the golf ball in the world and obviously hits it a long way. He was disappointed to see some of the thick rough cut down at Erin Hills, so his game and confidence must be in great shape. A recent change of putter could also help his quest to get back to world number one.

Anniversary Open
It is the club's birthday on July 1st, can you believe it has been open since 1993? On Saturday 24th June, we host our Anniversary Texas Scramble, with the tee sheet starting to fill up quickly now, it would be a good time to get your entries in to avoid missing out.
For any visitors wishing to play, the costs is just £15.00 per person (£60.00 a team) and for Cleobury Members the entrance fee is just £7.50. Teams can be a mix of visitors and Cleobury members.
Times available - 8.08am, 8.16am, 8.48am, 9am, 9.16am, 9.40am, 12.16pm, 1.28pm and 1.36pm.
Texas Scramble is a great fun format, nothing gives you greater pleasure than holing a crucial birdie putt for the team when the pressure is on!
During the day we will also have our friend, Craig Watson, from Golf Pride on site. Craig will be on hand to give you a FREE assessment of your grips, recommendations and advice on what Golf Pride grips would suit you and how to look after the grips to keep them in tip top condition. Plus he will be giving out FREE samples!
We were very fortunate to be selected by Golf Pride and would encourage everyone playing to come on over and have a chat with Craig, he will be on the first of Badgers.
If you would like to enter a team please call 01299 271 112 or contact us here.
I found this picture on the weekend, just a little bit different to what it was back in 1993!
Cleobury Mortimer Celebration Day!
On Saturday 10th June, Cleobury was hosting a community celebration day with lots of things going on!
I (Amy) & Tom headed up to the Sports & Social club to take our place on our designated CMGC stand!
We were loaded up with lots of information about the mighty CMGC and allowing people to have a go by hitting balls into the blow up nett which we also had situated up there!
Sadly the wind wasn't in our favour, however the weather was dry and we had loads of people milling around, giving it a go and gaining information about the place! It is great to advertise Cleobury within the community, as there are many people who don't realise we are here! Hopefully we will see some new faces getting involved in the game and just coming up for a drink!

Mixed Golf Thriving at CMGC
Sunday 11th June the mixed Cleobury team hosted a mixed team from Ombersley GC. After the usual getting to know each other sessions in the conservatory, both teams took to the course to do battle, not just against each other but also to battle against the increasingly strong wind.
Despite the ever-increasing strength of the wind, some great golf was played. Congratulations go to Derek and Beryl Eastwood for the biggest win of the day with an impressive 6&4 victory in their match. I would like to thank Lynn Jinks, Susan Davis and Simon Johnson for stepping in at short notice to cover some unavoidable withdrawals. Despite the last minute changes, Team Cleobury secured a second successive home win of 5.5 to 2.5.
