Agree or Disagree?
I would say 90% of people that play CMGC rate this as their favourite hole.
All of us at CMGC hope you had a great Easter and managed to enjoy some golf and chocolate over the last week or so. The course is getting busier as each week goes by and we have had lots of complimentary comments about the greens and how fast they are running. The investment in some green rollers last September has made a big difference. Cameron was out stimping the greens last Thursday and Friday and they were coming out at 10.2; possibly the quickest we have had them for this time of year.
Some more good news as we continue to welcome new members to CMGC, since 1st January this year we have had 43 people join. The atmosphere throughout the club has been fantastic and with the continued improvements around the course, we are all set for a big golfing season.

Sci Flex Gloves
It's Summer time and I have the perfect deal for you. When it's nice and hot and we're out playing golf our hands can sometimes get very hot and sweaty, so it's important to wear a leather glove in the summer as opposed to a synthetic all weather glove.
So the deal this week is 2 x FootJoy Sci Flex gloves for £25, saving £5!
This glove offers breathability and flexibility for comfort in cool-dry conditions as well as warm humid conditions. These gloves also have a tour feel performance, so that optimal feel is gained with exceptional moisture control. It has all the things needed in a glove to keep our hands as cool as possible in the sunny weather.
Shoe Of The Week - The FootJoy Pro SL
The FootJoy Pro SL is the #1 shoe in golf and is worn by some of golfs top stars including Adam Scott, Lee Westwood, Tom Pain, Jack Severn and Karl Tyers. The Pro SL men's golf shoe provides superior feel with Fine Tuned Foam (FTF), which is 10% lighter than conventional EVA foams, and provides enhanced cushioning and shock absorption for added comfort.
The FootJoy Pro SL comes with a 1 year waterproof guarantee and can be picked up from the CMGC for £150.
Greens Maintenance
Last week Ant was out trialling the The Air2G2 on all 29 of our greens. The Air2G2 uses three probes to inject pressurized air at 6 inches and 12 inches beneath the surface of the soil; fracturing the compacted layers that form as a result of foot traffic, routine maintenance and natural processes.
These lateral air injections loosen up compacted soil immediately, without any disruption to the surface of the turf. The increased porosity of the soil enables the roots to grow deeper, reaching the latent nutrients. The increased positive microbial activity in the soil also alleviates bacteria and fungus in the root zone. Increased root depth and health enhances heat and drought stress tolerance.
This fracturing relieves compaction, quickly allows water to drain, and promotes immediate gas exchange. But most importantly, it does so with little to no disturbance to the turfgrass surface.

Emily Price - England vs France
Congratulations to Emily Price who was representing England once again in a match against France recently. Emily was playing two opponents and teeing off all square against both on the 18th tee. The English strokeplay champion holed a sliding, downhill, six-footer to make par and defeat both her opponents - and give England the victory.

What A Cracking Easter Weekend!
Excuse the pun, but it had to be done. We had a weekend full of competitions, with loads of you taking the opportunity to play multiple times over the Easter break.
We hosted two Stableford competitions on Friday and Monday and then two Medal competitions over Saturday and Sunday. The conditions were near perfect with good weather and quick greens! The results proved that the course wasn't the easiest over the weekend. Please see below the winners from each competition, prizes can be collected from the Pro Shop.
Friday Stableford 1st Place - Dean Carpenter (35 Points)
Saturday Medal 1st Place - Stu Humphries (69 Nett)
Sunday Medal 1st Place - Dave Walker (69 Nett)
Monday Stableford 1st Place - Steve Lau (38 Points)
A special mention to Scratch Team regular Stu Humphries, who was 6 over par through 6, but bounced back with an eagle on 7 and several other birdies to shoot 2 under his handicap and see his handicap cut back down to 5.8.
Millichip Golf Day - Friday, 5 May
The Adam Millichip Foundation Golf Day is creeping up on us quickly this year at CMGC, the biggest charity golf day in our calendar is now in its 8th year and to date has raised over £60,000 just from the golf day itself. The Foundation provides financial support and assistance to disabled people wishing to participate in sports to improve the quality of their lives.
The Millichip Charity Golf Day is being held on Friday, 5 May this year, it is organised by 3 club members Stuart Millichip, Mark Benbow and Mark Fish and is now recognised as one of the biggest charity golf days in the Midlands. Over 55 teams take part on the day and it is a great value for money event for golfers of all abilities.
The Foundation is also delighted to announce some major new sponsors of the event, Tesco have not only agreed to support the golf day by becoming an event sponsor, but they will also support the foundation at all other events throughout the year.
They also welcome one of the biggest farm equipment dealers in the West Midlands, Tallis Amos, as an event sponsor. The charity has also had a large donation of £1000 given to the golf day event, but the company wish to remain anonymous, Mark Benbow trustee and spokesman for the Charity said;
"To secure the likes of Tesco and Tallis Amos, adding to our list of already impressive event sponsors is fantastic, it just shows that even in our 8th year the Millichip Golf Day, it is as popular as ever and that is not only down to the golfers, some of whom travel hundreds of miles to play on the day, but also the fantastic local community and companies who support us so much, we can't thank everyone enough"
The successful "Tented Sponsors and Media Village" will again be situated at the back of the 18th green, there are still sponsorship opportunities available and start from £100, any individual or company who wish to be involved with this great local event please contact Mark Benbow on 07966935938 or markb@adammillichipfoundation.org.
All tee times are now sold out, but if anyone would like to volunteer on the day or donate auction or raffle prizes to the Foundation, they would be delighted.
Have a great week, the CMGC team.
