Hello members and friends of CMGC, well what a grim week weather wise, it seems we have had everything this week apart from the apocalypse! Thankfully in-between the thunder and lightening many of you have been out playing and enjoying the course. A special mention to Micheal Scott and his team who sent us this via our facebook page.
Hiya just to say thank you for looking after us so well yesterday for our golf day for DAVID QUINN'S TROPHY, after all the atrocious weather conditions we experienced the course was just brilliant. So thank you for your help.
Regards MICHAEL SCOTT.
I swear we have the hardest working green keeping team around, managing over 200 acres so well.
Thankfully I have missed a lot of the bad weather playing golf in Wales. If anyone wants a challenge I would recommend Royal St Davids in Harlech just 8 miles from Barmouth. One of the toughest tracks I have ever been around.
Trying to find a Prov1 on this is never easy!
CMGC's Emily Price wins again!
Emily Price has once again showed her huge potential by winning the Midlands School championships. You may recall that Emily won the Shropshire schools champions a few weeks ago and now she has gone one better. Eight counties contested the Midlands Championships and by winning this she now goes onto the national championship.
The Midlands were played at Arscott golf club in Shrewsbury played over 36 holes. Emily shot a gross 74 around the first 18 and then a gross 70 around the second 18. What is even more amazing is that she equalled the course record on the back 18 in very wet conditions with strong winds and she was the youngest competitor there.
This now qualifies Emily to play in the Under 18 National Competition.
She automatically qualified to play in the Under 16's National Final. Considering she is still only 14 and winning these kind of high profile events goes to show her talent.
On the back of this CMGC has now secured the Midlands Championships for 2015. Feedback from parents and competitors from the Shropshire leg spurred organizers on to select CMGC and we are delighted to host such a prestigious event.
Emily Price... remember the name!
Graham Pain finishes second in business award ceremony
Graham, Sara, Rob, Rose and Milly recently attended the Institute of Directors Midland region award ceremony.
Local family business guru and advisor Peter Roper put Graham's name forward as Director of the year in the family business sector. An entry form was completed that had questions covering all aspects of the business from financial management to corporate social responsibility and environmental issues. This was followed by a panel interview in Birmingham with six business experts where Graham had a further "grilling" for over an hour.
At the Award ceremony that was a Champagne breakfast at Edgbaston Cricket Ground the Regional Chairman of the IOD congratulated all the finalists for the high quality and innovative businesses they managed.
Unfortunately Graham was runner up to Helen Thomas of Weston's Cider, we did however have a great morning in inspiring company and were presented with a bottle of Veuve Cliquot champagne.
Graham features in issue 6
