Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club Director of Golf
Good day and a warm welcome from us all here at CMGC. Lots to report this week with some: great golf, success stories, membership drives and golf centre offers. With Graham skiing and Rob away in Orlando sourcing some new golf buggies it was left to Tom and I to get the course ready on the weekend. It was great to walk the course and swish the greens. With a fresh cut on them today (Thursday) they should be rolling lovely ready for the weekend.

Come and join the fun..
At Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club we are fully aware of the benefits golf can bring to us socially and to our health. We also enjoy a full diary of competitions enabling us to reduce our handicaps and have range of ways you can represent the club including: Mens Matches, Scratch Matches, Ladies Matches, Seniors Matches, Junior Matches, Mixed Matches and various County Events. This year we are hoping to encourage new golfers to the game through Get into Golf programs as well as some initiatives to get people who have played the game in the past who are looking to get back playing. We would like to increase our competition golfers across all sections and on the whole encourage everyone to try and play a little bit more, whether it be playing 9 holes after work during the summer months or popping on over to practice your putting or short game if you are pushed for time.
Our first recruitment drive to encourage players back in to the game will be launched imminently whereby you can join now and play until 30th June 2018.
How it works in a nut shell...
Our 7 day membership is just £738.50 including VAT and affiliation fees.
You can join now and pay in two installments, one upon joining and one 1st July. This gives you plenty of time to settle in, meet new golfers, play in competitions, represent the club and enjoy everything CMGC has to offer. With the days starting to get longer it won't be long until the popular Wednesday night roll ups begin which are a great way to meet new people. We feel this offers outstanding value for money and is a great way to get back in to the swing of things.
If you know anyone that this might be of interest to please pass it on.
Terms and conditions will apply but if anyone would like any further details please speak to Dave or Tom.
To anyone who needs a last minute valentines day gift idea or wants to drop a hint to their other half we have a couple of great offers for you.

This trolley has some amazing features which include....
- It comes with a 5 Year frame warranty!

It also allows any golf bag to fit on it, including a stand bag.
This trolley is £159.99, and well worth it...
Pop into the shop and take a look!
Golf lesson with Amy
Following an hour lesson with Amy I thought I would just like to share the experience with club members.
I asked Amy to take a look at the basics, grip, stance, ball position and alignment.
My bad shot is missing fairways and greens to the right, after hitting a few balls Amy soon identified a few basic problems and was quick to work on the fix.
We all fall into bad golfing habits, and when you see yourself on the ipad it certainly highlights the problem areas and its great to see the old and new swing side by side.
If you are thinking of having a winter MOT on your swing I would not hesitate on spending the £20.00 for an hour lesson with Amy it will greatly benefit your game and make your round more enjoyable.

Facebook winners venture to CMGC for a Cleobury Country lodges stay and two rounds of golf....
Back in December we held a facebook competition whereby all you needed to do was like and share our post and you could win a stay in our lodges as well as 2 rounds of golf.
We had hundreds of people competing for this fantastic prize, and the lucky winner was James Turner, he and 3 friends (pictured) joined us this weekend to enjoy their prize.
Luckily the weather on Sunday wasn't to bad and they had a enjoyable round as well as a great stay. Keep a lookout for more competitions coming very soon.
David does the Double!
As its getting closer and closer to the qualifying season there are some fantastic scores being posted each week! We in the shop are seriously impressed!
Although the weather wasn't great in the build up to the weekend it seemed to calm down on both Saturday and Sunday with 40 players entering the double roll up.
The majority of scores from the weekend were all over 36 points, which shows just how good the standard of play is becoming!
Gary Mann and Nigel Williams who were in the first group on Saturday started the high scoring with 39 and 38 points respectively, this was followed by Lewis Hodges shooting 40 points and Dave Booton scoring 42 points! Some absolutely fantastic scores, all which they should be happy with, however yet again it was all to be decided on Sunday, and our Sunday performers didn't disappoint with Ian Gough shooting 40 points. However the weekend once again belonged to David Mendham who shot another 42 points beating Dave Booton on countback.
David had this to say: "Consistency really is the key for me, I'm playing great golf just because my entire game is consistent!"
1st - David Mendham - 42 points (CB)
2nd - Dave Booton - 42 points
3rd - Lewis Hodges - 40 points (CB)
Both Dave's have seen a healthy handicap cut on general play on the back of their fantastic form.
Please note due to the rain we have had over the last few days we have had to introduce hedgehog wheels/ winter wheels for trolleys. If you have a trolley you can continue to use it with these wheels.
If you don't have any hedgehog wheels you can hire a trolley from us £2.50 members' £3.50 visitors or alternatively you can carry.
