Hello everyone and welcome to another Newsletter from CMGC! 

Yes we are only halfway through January and still all eating away at our Christmas chocolate, however give yourself 5 minutes, sit back and enjoy the read of all things CMGC. As Dave said in last week's newsletter, he's off jet setting to Dubai so I (Amy) will be keeping you up to date this week! 

The course is once again looking great after the snow and frost we have had this week. The Greenkeepers have been doing a top job of tidying up the course especially down the 6th hole on Badgers where they have been clearing away the bramble around the path. As always we never have any temporary greens so grab the chance to play some winter golf on 27 full greens.

CMGC on Tour: 

With Dave just flying out to Dubai, I have just flown home from Dubai. I managed to play some amazing golf courses and see what Dubai has to offer. Dubai has some awesome courses and I managed to play The Els Club and Al Zorah while I was there. Both were awesome in their own rights, with The Els being mostly dominated by some tough bunkers, Al Zorah has the sea coming into play when the tide is in. 

Sadly Sam beat me on both courses, but he does have the home advantage having played them before! I will definitely beat him next time! As well as playing golf, me and Sam went quad biking in the desert and went to the top of the Burj Khalif (The world's tallest building), the views of Dubai from the top are breathtaking! Dubai is definitely worth a trip with so much to do!

 

1st FootJoy Shoe Drop

We have just took delivery of our first FootJoy shoe drop with the Men's Contour and Energize shoes being delivered as well as the Ladies Emerge and Enjoy shoes. 

The Contour, Emerge and Enjoy have been stocked previously in the golf centre and have been extremely popular and thought after shoes. However the FootJoy Energize is a new shoe for this season and offers some great benefits.

The weekend always seems to be two halves, one dry nice day and the other wet and windy! However both days delivered some awesome scores in this week's double roll up. 

Consistent Ian Davies started the high scoring with 38 points on Saturday, followed by Matt Fairman shooting an impressive 40 points, one of his best scores of the season, with Bryan Colley also topping the leader on Saturday afternoon with another 40 points. 

However the weekend would belong to Steve Lau's who scored a fantastic 42 points on Sunday. 

Steve had this to say: "I finally have my mojo back with my chipping, it always use to be the strongest part of my game however up until today I couldn't chip for toffee. It's great to feel confident chipping again it made all the difference today!"

Cleobury Country Lodges

With not only having 27 Holes of Golf, CMGC can also offer accommodation for golfing breaks as well. With the 2017 diary quickly filling up with have a selection of Friday and Saturday lodge availability for a golfing society or any golfers just wanting a short weekend getaway!

We currently have 4 lodges on site that sleep 4 people per lodge, allowing 16 guests to sleep. The lodges offer 2 spacious bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and a large kitchen/dining/living room (See Pictures).

Our most popular deal is Golfers Special which includes a 2 night stay and 2 days unlimited golf for just £400 for the lodge, working out at just £100 per person! This is an absolute steal! That means you can play golf until you drop each day. If you want to go all out on your trip we can add buggies (costing £26 for all day use) and food, whether this be breakfast, lunch or dinner or all three to your deal too!

 

A big thank you to our friends J & P Painting who have been busy over the last few weeks carrying out some painting and decorating work within the clubhouse. The quieter winter months give us a chance to carry out these types of jobs without causing too much disruption. 

The hallway, non spike bar, trophy cabinet, toilets and the Wyre suite function room have all benefitted from a freshen up which has made these areas look a lot lighter and have a warmer feel to them as we prepare for a busy 2017.

 



Tom - With the weather the way it is, allow for softer greens, unless there has been a frost the night before, as it is unlikely you will get any run on your green approaches so factor this into your club choice. 





Amy - The main thing during the winter is to practice and improve your game ready for the main season. 

Whether this be having regular lessons or by getting a personal practice routine yourself. Book a lesson for £20 with myself where we can tidy up your swing and we can create a practice routine perfect for the winter months! 



Matt - Take advantage of the Winter Rules and clean your ball at every opportunity. 

This will help the ball fly better and run more.
