Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club Director of Golf
Season's greetings one and all and welcome to another week of CMGC stories, gossip and news.
We have plenty to report once again this week. The weather has been dry and a little cold which is just what we like, the firmer the ground the better. This has allowed the greenkeepers to do a lot of the tidying up jobs that they simply don't have chance to do in the summer months: flower beds, hedges and bunker edging.
Below are a couple of short announcements before the proper content starts…..
Christmas Week - Where would you rather be than at CMGC?
Please note the following dates are starting to fill up:
We would all have had enough: TV, food and drink by then! Get your desired tee time by calling us on 01299 271112.
We have just 8 spaces left for the CMGC Christmas party this Saturday.

Garmin Approach S20 Watch....
We have just 1 Garmin Approach S20 watch available in the golf centre at just £150.
Approach S20 comes preloaded with more than 40,000 courses from all around the world and also includes free course updates.
The main benefits of this watch are that it includes AutoShot™ game tracker which automatically tracks shots along the fairway as well as the Course View feature which automatically updates frequently played courses for free.
This watch also has up to 15hours of golf per charge in full GPS mode, so there's no need to worry about how long your round will last! It allows better guidance during your approach shots with distances to hazards, doglegs and layups, so you don't need to worry how far you have to go! Garmin answers these questions for you!
With Christmas less than 20 days away! Treat yourself or a golfing loved one this Christmas! We only have one left so grab it while it's still available!

Jack does CMGC Proud
A big well done to Jack Severn who finished joint 26th with a final round of 77 at Finca Cortesin (where Ian Poulter won the Volvo World matchplay in 2011).
Having made the cut from playing 4 rounds at Alcaidesa Links. (Out of 156 qualifiers) again this was under 18's, so Jack will be trying to qualify next year.
Thunderstorms the day before meant the practice round had to be cancelled & course on the day was very wet playing long, but presented in a first class condition.
The members of CMGC were once again out in force for the annual Christmas Competition. Christmas jumpers, santa hats and many cheers of ho ho ho could be seen and heard around the course.
Club Captain Bob Lucas was a noticeable absence from the day, however Santa who was on the half way hut with his elves did offer some resemblance. The format for the day was a Texas Am with the best two scores on each hole counting. Some very strong teams were on paper and it was very tight with the winning score coming by just one point!
Gary Hingley, Mark Watson, John Gaskell and Paul Liggins shot a fantastic 97 points to pip The Lau brothers, Graham Butcher and Dave Gordon. Gary who was the man marking the card had this to say on behalf of the team. 'It was a great day today, the weather has been great and there was a fantastic atmosphere around the course and clubhouse. The course was in great condition and we all played our part. Merry Christmas to all'.
Message from Captain Bob AKA Santa
A huge thank you to all that played on Saturday, Corrinne and I had a great day, we hope you did too. Thank you all for your generosity we raised £100 on the day for the Captains Charity, Midlands Air Ambulance. Well done lads, the amount raised is a credit to you all.
Sorry I can't be with you all over this Christmas period, when I accepted the Captains role I had already planned spending time with my Daughter, Son in law and the 3 Grandchildren, down under, I will be thinking of you all whilst swimming in the sea in 30 degrees on Christmas day!!
Corrinne and I would like to wish you, and all your families, a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and a great golfing New Year.

The wait is over, Tiger Woods is back. This perfect bunker shot was one of many highlights from his four days in the Bahamas - although there was plenty of rust, too.
Have a great golfing week and we hope to see you at CMGC very soon.
