Good day and welcome once again to the latest goings-on of team CMGC,
We have been very lucky this week missing the majority of the heavy rain storms. The course is holding up really well with many commenting it is in the best condition they have ever seen it! A BIG thank you to all that attended our cost price sale, the full winter wear and shoe range is now on display. Fingers crossed we won't need the wet weather gear just yet!
Tell me, what would you do with the below picture….
You have laid up short here on the par 5, the 4th at Deer Park, go long you're out the hole, go short you bring the bunkers into play.... What do you do? pitch to the green or lay up short and hope for a good bounce?
With it just a couple of weeks away, Ryder Cup fever is starting to hit CMGC. All our Ryder Cup offers and details are below.
Our final sweep of the year is here just in time for the Ryder Cup
The winner of the sweep will be the player with the highest points scored. In the event of a tie the winner will be determined by the biggest win margin in the singles, if that is a tie it goes back to the Saturday afternoon four balls and so on. There will also be a prize for the biggest win in the singles, just to make it a little fairer as not all players will be playing every match. Just a little something to make it a bit more interesting when watching as we all know Team Europe will trounce them!
N.B. Obviously Team USA don't announce their last pick until very late on, a question mark will be in that picks envelope. Best of luck to all. You can get your pick off Amy in the golf centre.
Ryder Cup Ball Offer
We have teamed up with Titleist to offer a no brainer offer on the number one ball in golf - the Pro V1.
Simply buy two sleeves for just £20 and give us your predictions on who you think will win… Team Europe or Team USA. If your team wins we will then give you another sleeve completely FREE.
Cash sales only. Two sleeves would normally cost £25. This offer is on from today until the first players tee off.
Ryder Cup Competition
On Sunday, 2 October, our team Ryder Cup challenge once again hits CMGC. Captains Bob Lucas and Stu Humphries have been exchanging a lot of banter on who will win. We have just 7 places left, it promises to be a great day, The teams meet at 9.00am with the first pairings off at 9.30am.
John Lacey Memorial Results
The 2016 John Lacey Memorial Texas Scramble was once again a huge success. Pictured is the winning team...see how by clicking here.
The Teenage Cancer Trust Golf Day
The Teenage Cancer Trust Golf Day Is this Friday and currently up to 22 teams. That means we have just 3 places left. CMGC member Mark Greenfield of MG Shopfronts, is the main sponsor for the annual Charity Golf Day on September 23.
The day will consist of a coffee and bacon roll on arrival, 18 holes of golf, lunch on course, and an evening buffet meal, were the presentations will take place.
Prizes worth £1,000 will be available for the first five teams, there will be a Beat The Pro and Longest Drive competition. And one of those includes the use of either an I8 or 7 Series BMW for a weekend, provided by Benham BMW in Wolverhampton, who is supporting the day.
CMGC owner Graham Pain had this to say:
"We are delighted to host this event in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust and, want to thank Mark Greenfield of MG Shopfronts for his generosity in becoming the main sponsor. Mark is a member and recommended us to the event organiser."
A few team places remain and the cost is £250 per team (discounts for members) and anyone interested should email, davidcoleman1953@gmail.com
Taylor Tops A Ton
This long standing CMGC member has certainly had a good season on the golf course, especially on the Wednesday night roll ups. After a host of wins, nearest the pins, and twos, Guy's total winnings have now past over £100. With entry at £2 a go this would give substantial profit. Earning these kind of winnings, maybe his amateur status needs to be revoked and turned professional?
Community Transport Day Feedback
A big thank you to Beverley and Simon who sent me these words from their day:
First can I say a big thank you to Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club, everyone was fantastic!
The feedback from all who participated is tremendous, we raised a total in excess of £3,000.
Everyone enjoyed Beat The Pro which raised £175.00. The evening was well organised and the food much appreciated.
The Auction was amazing, with our very own Paul Mitchell of Lloyds Garage in charge of proceedings. The highlight was the 18th hole flag signed by the current Ryder Cup Captain. This went for £320.00 which was more than any of us expected.
I was bowled over with the support I have received for this event and look forward to next year! I cannot thank Simon Tester of Westbourne Publishing enough for all his effort along with his lovely wife Terry. Dale Horton of Veldonn Printers for the tremendous work on the posters, leaflets, sponsorship boards, David Court for his artwork, Paul Mitchell, and all who participated on the day. |

Video of the week | It's not long now until the chest thumping and fist pumping starts, and in the build up to this year's Ryder Cup at Hazeltine, a few of the players have been busy slapping on a bit of face paint. Time to book your place in front of the TV, or down the club, and watch all the action on Sky Sports. |

Have a great golfing week and we hope to see you at CMGC very soon. Dave, Matt, Amy and Team CMGC |
