MOT Your Game Titleist 4 for 3 2016 - £39.99
FJ Autumn Winter clothing 2015Srixon AD333 Tour Golf Balls

Hello once again from the one and only CMGC. Another week passes us by and as normal it has been action packed with so much going on! The professional shop has seen loads of stock arriving and it is great to see so many people getting serious about the season ahead by purchasing some of the latest gear.

The course has been holding up well as shown below, however some pretty grim weather has been forecast. Please call the golf centre or check the blog for latest course updates. This Saturday is very busy so please give us a call before hand if you are thinking of playing.

Coaching news

A huge thank you to everyone that signed up for the Lucky 7 golf lesson package with me.

All 12 with the FREE dozen Titleist golf balls were sold within 6 days!

The bookings have been coming thick and fast and thankfully some almost instant improvements are being gained.

Below are a couple of pictures of work I have been doing with a client. On the putting pictures note the right hand picture, compared to the left hand picture. Ball position is nice and forward, putter and shoulder square. A much more consistent stroke is gained because of this. Long game drills have also improved, with a fantastic set up point (image 3). This will prevent them cutting across the intended target line.

For anyone that is interested it is 7 lessons for just £99! The lessons consist of 45 minutes tuition and 15 minutes feedback at the end with lesson notes emailed.

The only cost involved is £3 for lunch.

Please sign you child or relative up by contacing us HERE or calling 01299 271 112.

Committee Feedback

A couple of important points came out of the committee meeting at the club on Monday. Competition payouts for competitions will now have a minimum, therefore if numbers are down e.g. due to bad weather the payout will remain.

1st - £20
2nd - £15
3rd - £10

Nine hole competitions can also now be qualifiers, the committee have decided to trial this in the men's roll ups on Wednesdays. The last Wednesday of each month will now be a nine hole qualifier for the roll up. Courses will be rotated, this is to trial the format for a year, if demand is good we can look at doing more in 2017.

Other news

Is golf supposed to be an Extreme Sport?

Just when we were getting used to seeing daffodils on the Course as a sign of Spring we were given a reminder that winter isn't over yet.

As you can see from the photo of Deborah Fearnley teeing off on the 6th on Badgers last Wednesday, 2 March, part way through the round the weather changed and for about 30 mins we experienced heavy snow and strong winds. The greens were white, we had ice on the bottoms of our shoes and on our trolley wheels. Trying to putt when all you can see in front of you are large flakes of snow is a real challenge.

Four intrepid (some may say foolhardy) Ladies, Deborah Fearnley, Judy Sant, Nina Foord & Gloria Bullock, managed to finish the 9 hole Winter of Merit stableford, all with respectable scores.

CMGC On Tour

Big thanks to Mike James for sending us this picture for him at the top of the old Millenium Dome now the O2 Arena!

Remember if your away send me a photo and I will get it in the newsletter!

Already have next week's lined up from New Zealand!

Competition news

3 Club

The first trophy competition of the year certainly made it hard for competitors with just three clubs being used. The Hendry Three Club is one of the oldest competitions within the club and always the subject of much debate with what clubs to select, one of which must be a putter.

Jamie Fearnley continued his fine recent form with a very good performance to take third place. The conditions on the day clearly favoured the afternoon players with Gary Mann playing some fine golf to finish in second place.

The day belonged to Nigel Williams who has a long history in this competition being a former winner.

He played some fantastic golf on his way to a very impressive 37 points and takes home the trophy once again.

Director of golf Dave Pain had this to say 'It is great to see a nice mix of players in the top three, Nigel has won this competition before and clearly knows how to score with just three clubs. It is thoroughly deserved.'

Golf Care

Picture this…

Your ball bouncing through the club car park, causing significant damage! Cars can be easily repaired at a price, but the situation could be a whole lot worse if you strike a fellow golfer, or passer-by. We want our members to be covered against such perils – and there are many more, such as theft and loss of golf club subscription - so speak to us about getting covered with Golf Care.
